Best of luck to him! I have heard from someone who has seen him up close and personal, that he's a heck of a player.

He was # 5 on the football team. He was one of the Wide recivers that played so well all season. He was also a great kicker and punter. Probally could have gone D1 in any of those positions also. Just a great athlete and a great kid.

Kid can throw the pill. I bet he will be drafted as he has a major league arm.
Only time I saw him last year he was a little erratic around the zone. So, needless to say he only went 2 innings until they took him out.
I know a kid that played D-1 Big 12 baseball for two years. It's funny to hear him say "Once you've seen two or three guys throw 90+, it doesn't faze you anymore. You adjust or realize you can't make it."

That's what a good pitching coach will help him with. Command of the strike zone, because you cannot succeed at that level unless you have it. If he cannot pitch, but can play, then they will find him another position.

Baseball America has him as the #2 player in Texas and #4 overall in the country.

He had trouble at times with the strike zone but when he was on he was on. He had several shut outs and no hitters last year.

LOL! Oh, I remember him well from this year! I haven't had the pleasure to see him on the diamond, but I trust Daddy D's opinion on it. :)

Shelby Miller, rhp, Brownwood (Texas) HS (2009)

A number of scouts told me that the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Miller wasn’t just the top pitching prospect in Jupiter, but just might be the best 2009 high school pitcher in the country. In separate outings, he touched 94 and had command of three plus pitches. The show he put on in his first appearance—a 9 p.m. game with close to 400 scouts/coaches watching his every move—says something about his composure as well. He was in total control on the mound.

this was from the perfectgame website on the WWBA fall championship.

Jupiter is an amazing tournament for watching the young talent in this country, not to mention that Cuba and the Dominican Republic all have teams there too.
Who'd Shelby play with?
