View Full Version : Upland bird hunters?
Anybody hunting quail/pheasant yet?
Well dang. I thought with the number of small town rednecks on the downlow that somebody might be out there popping birds by now.......

That's what I want to hear. Haven't been out yet, but I heard that there are more coveys out this year than last.
One rancher told me that they are seeing about 4-6 coveys during a day's hunt with dogs.
I get worried that the quail population is dying off from everything you hear from disease, lack of water & vegitation, fire ants... etc....
You have to work more than ever to hunt quail, but the deer population is increasing. Go figure.

The last year in Wise Co. has seen another little "surge" in deer population.
Turkey remain strong with big flocks of 30~40 prevalent in the northern part of the county.
The dove season was also strong, although the hurricane really screwed up a good Saturday!
Quail look to be good so far, (although I am really not a big quail hunter).
And yeah, hogs are continuing to thrive here. Lots and I mean LOTS of people trapping them now.
