New Idea for 3ADL...

I would like to see a new member status added to 3ADL next year...Hall of Fame members. Some members on this board have, in my opinion, set themselves apart from other members. I know that we have varsity members and scrub members, but anybody can become a varsity member if they post enough. I, for example, have been a member of this site for only a few months and have gained the same status as some posters who I believe are in a class above me. I would like to see Hall of Fame members who are elected to their position by others on the board. To make sure this membership works, we could limit the members to a certain number of Hall of Fame inductees every year. I think it would be a great way to honor some of our members out there. What does everybody else think?

It's not a bad idea, we have the "member rated" function in operation now. It's not a perfect system though. "Newbies" can knock down someone's rating without even knowing anything about them or their sense of humor. I would like to see the member rating system restricted to varsity posters because you really should be on here for a while before you rate someone. It can't be done presently, but Matt will look into it once we get the new server.
Back on topic, this is an idea that deserves discussion, so let's see what everyone else thinks.

That sounds like a fun idea...it will let everyone know what the other people on here really think about them....maybe only let the alumni and sports writers (donating members) vote on it..... wink

how bout it? Kinda works good doesnt it... like, say... after 250, you move to JV, then after 700, you move to JV, 1000 gives you varsity, a coach at 1250, and 2000 makes you an AD?

I think it's a good idea. Watch it, SintonFan, I think you and Sinton66 are pretty good, so they may come up with an "owner" or "demigod" status(maybe you'll get to pick!). I've been a Sinton fan since ya'll beat us in Victoria. Your team and coaches were gracious winners and the posters from Sinton usually have something to say on 3ADL. And I'm glad Bubba Heard is at Rice. Y'all need to follow him, too.

I don't think that the number of posts makes you a respected poster. Take me for instance....I have over 500 posts and I am a complete idiot wink I think that what you are talking about needs to be voted on by our peers. You might limit the voting to those with a certain number of posts or those who are donating members. I would start off by electing 2 to 4 members from each region on the first years ballot and then adding 1 person per region per year on subsequent ballots. I think that it would be very hard this first year to limit the voting to one person per region. There are two many great posters to have that kind of limitation the first year. Just my $.02

Here's my perspective. You don't have to be on this site long to see who the respected posters are. The content, not the number of post is what determines who is respected. They don't get angry when someone disagrees with them. They stand for something and don't mind correcting themselves if proven wrong. These people are the same ones you'd respect in your community. I say leave it like it is, the respected people will always SHINE through. :cool:

66, you are so right on this. This is also a reason for everyone to vote for one member(in the whole state) every 4 months. You, I, slpy, pphs, oldgreen, spaniard, chris, old card, formerbellville, rangermom, 3afan(jeez you old timers I forget your names) and so many others who have been here a long time, were here to see the value of members like EOTT. If anyone didn't vote for him or one of the administrators the whole vote would be a sham.
eye of the tiger helped define class on this forum! Many of us tried to emulate him after he set a fine example. Kudos to you, EOTT!

Hall of Fame status should be decided by quality, not quantity. You can be quiet and let people think you are stupid, or get on and post and prove people right.

it's very true, off season does show the loyal members, such as Ranger Mom, slpybear, OldCard, PPHS, and soo many others...Maybe this hall of fame thing is something we should look into.
