"I've never been part of a tie,'' McNabb said. "I never knew that was in the rulebook. But it's part of the rules and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to the next opportunity of getting out there and trying to drive to win the game but unfortunately, with the rules, we settled with a tie.''

As predicted in week 2, by this time of the season he is no more than average. He is not a student of the game as indicated above and after 8 weeks of pounding he always is hurting by this time, his accuracy is why it was a tie and not a win.
Go Cowboys!

I do think that they need to get rid of this one OT crap and just play it until someone wins.

I agree with Johnny, there needs to be a winner. I would rather see the NFL use the overtime system used in college/high school than see a tie after 75 minutes of play

The eagles need to put Kolb in at QB I can't stand McNabb, really can't stand the eagles period, but would like to see Kolb get an opportunity.

Rush Limbaugh was right.

I heard his audio on Sportscenter this morning where he asks "I wonder what would happen if this ever happened in the playoffs? How would they handle it?"

Umm...it HAS happened in the playoffs, and they obviously have different rules where a playoff game can't end in a tie.

He said something to the effect of I was wondering why we called a hail mary on the last play then I kind of had an idea.

Until yesterday, I wasn't even aware that a game COULD end in a tie!

Maybe I'm just weird, but I actually like having ties every now and then...it wrecks havoc with playoff scenarios!

I agree, also a tie as almost as bad as a loss.

10-6 is much better than
9-5-1...

10-6 could go to the playoffs while the other sits at home. Also with a 5 quarter tie, neither team deserves the win and neither team gets it.

Ha, that's what i was thinking when i read it.

As for ties, i dont really have a problem with them. There have always been ties in soccer and everything seems to work out fine (Yeah, i know. This is America, no one likes soccer, blah, blah, blah). I do realize that ties in the NFL kinda suck because it's only a 16 game season, but i don't think it's that big of deal since it happens so rarely. Also, continuing a game until a winner is determined means the game could go on forever and the risk of injury really starts to go up. The games have got to end after some reasonable amount of time.

As for the overtime format, the NFL should definitely adopt the high school/NCAA format. But starting at the 25 yard line is stupid. Back it up to the 40 or 50 yardline.
