Yeah they are, just looked at their schedule. Tatum's 14 points came on kickoff returns for TDs.

Tatum got behind the 8-ball early with turnovers leading to easy Carthage scores and about half way through that second quarter, it sounds like they pretty much just quit. Carthage is doing anything they want.

On the bright side, the Eagles have a 90 and 97 yard kickoff return for touchdowns.

Final
Carthage 62
Tatum 20

Carthage looks very good, very balanced, and very athletic. Tatum had no answer for anything Carthage did offensively. Tatum was outmanned at every position and just couldn't get anything going on either side of the ball.

My problem is the coaching staff of Carthage calling timeouts with less than a minute to go in the half with a 55-14 lead. Tatum went 3 and out, and the Carthage coaches called a timeout before the punt. When they got the ball, they ran down to the 15 and called another timeout with 16 seconds left. After a PI against Tatum, Carthage threw for a TD with 3 seconds left to make it 62-14.
If you are up 41 in the 2nd quarter and haven't been even close to being slowed down, why are you throwing the ball and calling timeouts? I thought that was kinda bad sportsmanship.

I see where you are coming from, but last year Jasper was about about 40 at half time and ended up losing that game. In the play-offs you have to score every opportunity you get unless you are up about 20 with less then 5 mins to go in the 4th.

And I see your point also. But when I say that Tatum was powerless, I mean it. Carthage could have called how many plays they wanted to run before scoring. Tatum was nowhere near prepared defensively for Carthage. It was domination from the start. Why humiliate them is my point.

A friend of mine from Carthage called me during our game with their halftime score 62-14, thats amazing. Carthage will be hard to beat this year. Tatum will come back strong, they always do.

Tatum played horrible which made Carthage look that much better. Tatum rushed 2 guys continually, and Carthage QB Blackshire repeatedly had enough time to recite the "kanji" alphabet before throwing a pass. I think he probably ended up about 10 for 12 or something in the half.

Carthage looks very very impressive but far from unbeatable in my mind. They clearly outclassed their opponent tonight. They may not be so fortunate from here on out, (Although next week vs Lorena shouldn't exactly be a barn burner):D

That Jasper game was much closer, 34 to 14 at the Half. But, again, it is the playoffs, score when you can, within reason.

Tatum is/was definately a below average team this season. I wouldn't have thought this game would have been so bad as quick as it did though. I was thinking something like, 56-14 or 21 as the final, but with Carthage having to do work in the 3rd quarter to get to that point.

Carthage's offense is rediculously goodt this year. Apparently their kickoff team sucks bad if Tatum ran 2 back for TD's. Everyone who caught the kickoff for Tatum when we played them looked like they've never caught a ball in their life and ran right to the defenders.

I hope Gilmer and Carthage make it to the regional finals so we can see 2 of the top offenses duke it out.
