It's always interesting to see what the playoff bracket would have looked like if there were still only one unified 3A bracket with 2 teams per district qualifying.

Whichever teams made it out of Regions I and III in particular would have gone through quite a minefield

Region I
(1C)Lubbock Cooper vs (2R)Sweetwater
(3C)Monahans vs (4R)Pecos
(5C)Bridgeport vs BYE
(7C)China Spring vs (8R)Burnet
(1R)Dalhart vs (2C)Abilene Wylie
(3R)Midland Greenwood vs (4C)Fort Stockton
(5R) Burkburnett vs BYE
(7R)Glen Rose vs (8C)Liberty Hill

Region II
(9C)Prosper vs (10R)Van Alstyne
(11C)Dallas Madison vs (12R)Alvarado
(13C)Farmersville vs (14R)Eustace
BYE vs (16R)Pittsburg
(9R)Celina vs (10C)Paris
(11R)Dallas Roosevelt vs (12C)Kaufman
(13R)Lucas Lovejoy vs (14C)Van
BYE vs (16C)New Boston

Region III
(17C)Gilmer vs (18R)Diboll
(19C) Waco La Vega vs (20R) Crockett
(21C) West Orange-Stark vs (22R) Coldspring
BYE vs (24R) Rockdale
(17R)Chapel Hill vs (18C) Carthage
(19R) Mexia vs (20C) Palestine Westwood
(21R) Silsbee vs (22C) Cleveland
BYE vs (24C) Navasota

Region IV
(25C) Bellville vs (26R) Needville
(27C) La Vernia vs (28R) Yoakum
(29C) Bandera vs BYE
(31C) Sinton vs (32R) Lyford
(25R) Giddings vs (26C) Sweeny
(27R) Somerset vs (28C) Cuero
(29R) Pearsall vs BYE
(31R) Robstown vs (32C) Rio Hondo

3rd Place teams which would be done for the season include:
Region I: Lubbock Estacado, Snyder, Seminole, Clint, Vernon, West and Llano
Region II: Argyle, North Lamar, Carrollton Ranchview, Kennedale, Nevada Community, Kemp and Pleasant Grove
Region III: Tatum, Jasper, Lorena, Brownsboro, Hardin-Jefferson, Huffman and Caldwell
Region IV: Sealy, Wharton, Poteet, Goliad, Devine, Ingleside and La Feria

In 31AAA Sinton would have been in as District Champions but I think it would have been Ingleside instead of Robstown because they both were 5 - 2 but Ingleside won the head to head 21 to 20. I think that would have put Ingleside in.

Wharton and Needville finished with the same record, but Wharton won the head to head, so they would be in rather than Needville.:)

I personally think that is how it should be. Like in 4A and 5A that is WAY to many teams going to the playoffs. And it is unfair. Some districts have 5 teams when others have 8.... If you want to do this why not have a playoff where Everyone is in it.

I wish they could take four teams from each district. Might as well water 'em now like California. :)

There are some states that do have everyone in it. I cannot remember which state, but I know I heard the announcers discussing that issue. FFPF- Fun Fair Positive Football:rolleyes:

Thats so retarded :S.... I guess the only reason why it has gone up is cuz some districts are loaded with great teams. But that just makes it all the more challenging/important for teams to play in district play.

(3R)Midland Greenwood vs (4C)Fort Stockton

It would have been Seminole not Greenwood.

Seminole beat Greenwood and Greenwood had to beat Monahans by more then 10

I hope so. The Howling Bear deserved a shot in the playoffs.

You will need to do a search on the discussion that has been done in the past here. And maybe also on the private schools.

As a HS football fan I have no problem with 3 or 4 play-off teams

It means MORE play off games..Who does not love that!!

I like the way it is right now, with 5a and 4a taking 4, and everyone else taking 3. If anything, only 5a should be taking 4. There is so much equity among 5a teams, that 4th place teams still have a great shot at making a deep run. In the lower classes, you usually only have one or two good teams in a district, while the 3rd place team is usually blown out in the first round.

Yeah our 3rd place team only won by 29 last night. ;)
