In a couple of days xbox live is going to change to a new format..

One of the new features to it is the ability to copy games to your xbox hard drive..

My question is won't this make it really easy to steal games (i.e. borrow a friend's or rent a game and copy it to your hard drive).. or does anyone know if they have a way to prevent this?? it seems like they would.. If not that would be pretty sweet

All I could think of is time logged on that game?

My kid wants an X-box 360 - is there more than one version? What are some "have to buy" accessories that I should get? Need to start looking now as this will be for Christmas.

The pro version with the 60 GB hard drive.

Should come with a wireless controller but you will want to get another one. Then get http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4921750
Or else it will eat through batteries

I see Wal mart has the 60 gig for 299. Is that about the best price I'm gonna find? Any chance they'll want to slash prices if I wait?

I know Wal Mart was offering the Ps3 with a $100 gift card. So maybe you could catch a deal like that. There won't be any kind of price drop though.

How old is your kid? Do you think violent games will corrupt his mind forever?

not too worried about that - he's 12. What's the advantage of the hard drive?

It's the only way you can save games

Not true, you can get a memory card..

Emerson1
11-14-2008, 11:49 AM
Yes, you can buy a 512MB memory card for $49.99.

That holds less than 1% of what you would get for only $50 more in the 60 GB hard drive. Plus it's easier to detach and could be lost.

You make up any cost by getting a wireless controller with it, something you don't get with the arcade version. So go pro

I never said it was smarter to just get a memory card.. I just said there are other options..

You can also buy the hard drive separately later on if you just get the arcade version..

but overall it is smart to just go with the pro version because you get the hard drive and the controller for much cheaper if you were to buy those separately

I have been debating for a long time now what to get. A 360 or a PS3. I like the 360 live play and the games, but I like the PS3 blueray. Is the netflix thing for Live in HD? Cuz if thats the case then I would just do that and it basically is the same thing.

yea more then likely...

Sony pictures has boycotted their movies from being shown through netflix / xbox deal, but netflix has said that they will work something out where they can eventually be shown

You still have to have the game to play it. Installing it to the hard drive just cuts the initial load time 15-20 seconds and in game load time 3-5.

LoL, thats another down fall to the 360 comparing it to the PS3

Emerson1

The ps3 only last long because there is nothing to play on it so you won't ever turn it on.

So - do you guys with a 360 have it hooked up to an ethernet cable or wireless modem for online gaming? It looks like 300 bucks is as cheap as it will go - the "deals" are what they will throw in with the console.

LoL, yeah 360 has a few more games. But really the only ones that are different are like Halo and Gears of War. PS3 has metal gear solid, resistance.

How does an online Dynasty work???? just like one offline with two ppl or what?

Emerson1

Like an offline dynasty but with up to 16 people from around the globe. Good luck finding one that's active though

BIG BLUE DEFENSIVE END
11-21-2008, 11:18 AM
The PS3 is a far superior system. Anything you can do on a 360 you can do on a PS3, except it's an all-around better console. The Sixaxis controllers make gameplay a little more interesting as you have to tilt the controller. The game selection is growing at a rapid rate, and you get a Blu-Ray player with it that is awesome. The reason that the Xbox Live is upgrading is because it was an inferior interface when compared to a PS3, which has already offered the aforementioned perks several months back. I would never trade my PS3 for a 360, I've had it for over a year and I play it every chance I get. I play a 360 on a daily basis usually as well, and it's fun to play on but I can't justify having one of each system when I already have everything the 360 has to offer (sans Halo) in what I have right now. Go with a PS3 if you can afford it, you won't regret it.

tigerdirect is a good website, they are just like newegg.com - top notch customer service, shipping speed, etc....
if you have reservations about ordering online, i can almost assure you that ordering from tigerdirect is just as easy, if not easier, than buying from bestbuy.com or walmart.com or whatever...

They usually have 8 to 12 people and most advance twice a day to once every two days, mine advances once everyday the people change constantly though if people don't stay active and are online and don't play their games.

My favorite one I'm in right now I'm Miami I have beaten both user-controlled UF and FSU....already have a path to the NC!

I'm currently on my 3rd 360 due to the F'ING RRoD. I made sure to buy this one through Best Buy with the warranty so I can exchange it for a new one if anything like that happens to it.

Apply the 'towel trick' as a quick solution to continue using your XBOX. Unplug all cords but the power cord and remove any disc that may be in the drive. Turn the system on and completely wrap it up in 2 towels, or maybe 1 large beach towel. Let it sit there for about 30 minits to let it over heat and BAM! You now have a working 360.

Of course you may have to do that twice a week.
