That whole list is bogus because of #1.

Why would you say that. The annual game between Texarkana Texas High and Texarkana Arkansas High is huge. Texas usually gets the upper hand in the rivalry game but Arkansas High has many State Championship Rings.

These lists are always subjective

Marshall vs Longview gets mentioned as one of top 15 best rivalries of All the United States across all sports in Maxim and it is considered top by DCTF in Texas...but does not even get a mention on this one

Anyone else find it interesting that the #6 rivalry in the state isn't playing each other?

I just don't consider it to be a Texas High School Football rivalry.

i think most people would agree with the majority of the selections on the list (even celina and pilot point, although the list is obviously still at least one year old (art briles is still listed as the coach at houston), when they were still district mates)

but it is a valid argument that the texarkana isn't an intrastate affair, nor is it likely the #1 rivalry overall

What about Rider and Old High. Have you ever been to one of those games in Wichita Falls.

That's a good one. Think they had 12,000 fans at this years game.
WF Rider won 17-0.

Celina and Pilot Point have a rivalry like a hammer and nail have a rivalry. Celina won 9 straight and after 2003, it hasn't even been close.

The window is closing on this series -- and may already have. Pilot Point is losing students and has dropped back to 2A, and in a few years the enrollment gap will be too much.

Can someone post the list, I can't open it.

Thank you.

of course

this rivalry is over, for good

but for forty years, (especially the last 25 or so) it was the biggest in north texas small school football, by far

was it ever the biggest in the state? no, but for many across north texas (small schools) it was the dominant one for a while, precisely because of the close proximity and high profile the teams often took into it

many may not remember it now, but from 1979-1994, PP was the better program of the two (and the next year, 95, they won 13-9 over a bobcat team that won the state title)
