This is a great John Wayne Western made in 1969. It is a great movie with a great cast and beautiful scenery. John Wayne is magnificient as the one eyed marshall and this won him a well deserved oscar. Kim Darby is great as young Mattie and the scenes between her and Wayne are outstanding.
Glen Campbell does an adequate job though not great as the Texas Ranger.
Robert Duval as Ned and Dennis Hopper as Moon are very good and show why they were to become big stars in the future.
Strother Martin is hilarious as the horse trader that deals with Mattie.
Jay Silverheels who was famous as Tonto in the Lone Ranger series appears briefly at the start of the movie as one of the condemned men hanged. He is the one in the middle.
Don't miss this one if you haven't seen it.
