All due respect to all teams, but I would love for the Bulls to be able to be around to play Sweetwater (personal sweet revenge choice for Budman), Liberty Hill(Great fans and gotta beat No. 1 to be No. 1), and/or Celina(Want that orange hoarde to see what the Bulls and that El Toro offense can do in a 4-quarter"real" game).

Breck will be back, BreckTL---hide and watch. I remember maybe the 99' playoffs, a Buck team with some great QB blasted the Bulls 28-0. Some years up--some down--Breck is too much of a tradition-rich program to stay down too long.

Same goes for Brownwood----that young "D" will come together and I predict(don't know for a fact) that a pretty good running back will emerge to go with that great passing game and you will be on your way again---look at this year's Bulls for a "blueprint"---that is exactly what happened for us in the space of 1 season.

Cuero, because people here all know about Cuero, even though we haven't played them in 20 years. After that, if we make it that far, Abilene Wylie. We have never played any of those northern or western Texas teams.

Quite honestly though, I WANT to play anybody we can as long as it means we keep winning.;)

I wish you could have seen a better representation of our program. I saw someone make the statement yesterday that Carthage was the best team ya'll played last year in the playoffs. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. The game is played on a field and not in your mind. Someone has to come in second just like someone has to win. Who you might have beat last year is like saying that the fifth place team in your district could have beaten the state champs, but they did not play so we will never know. Play this year's games, one at a time, and prove your point.

I don't think he meant it as a shot at Gilmer. FWIW, the Carthage game was windy & cold if I remember right. Gilmer had more talent than Carthage, but they did play us tougher all 4 quarters than any other team.

Obviously what I said was an opinion, but for me, the only game during the playoffs where I actually though "This isn't good, we might lose this game." Was during the Carthage game. Being on the field for all the playoff games too, you get a feel for what's really going on out there and Carthage was putting it to us, they were knocking our heads in and they were very physical up front. I never saw a running back knock one of our DB's on their butts like Carthage's did, and he did it 3 times! Like LHPM said earlier, we absolutely owned the fourth quarter and it made it look like a easy win, when in fact it was a pretty tough game. Gilmer by far had a more talented team, but in our particular game, Gilmer never challenged us, and Carthage definitely did.

But anyways, we want West, Vernon, Sweetwater and Bridgeport:devil:

I can't wait til folks like you get to know this year's Bulls up close and personal. All Bridgeport doubters this year have been quick converts after seeing this team in action.

Nope, no entitlement. We know what it takes to EARN a state championship. We expect every team we face to play their best game against us. Some of us just don't think your team has the stones to pull it off. We have heard the it's our year chants plenty of times before. And we walked out of those games the victor.

Again, I appreciate the great record of LH for the last two previous season. And I am impressed by this year's undefeated team.

Just like I am impressed by all of the other undefeated teams in 3A.

I saw someone make the statement yesterday that Carthage was the best team ya'll played last year in the playoffs. I took that as a shot at our program, because we would have smoked Carthage last year.
I think I made a comment similar to that last year and I'm not sure if it's the one you remember but it was definitely not a shot at Gilmer's program. I have the utmost respect for the "G men". My intent was that Carthage played us the strongest out of any team in the playoffs and that the score was not an indication of the caliber of team they had. (the same can be said of Gilmer as well) I believe I made mine before we played Gilmer as I have a lot of family in Panola County.

Ok, I agree with what you are saying Sly, but I'll meet you half way...

This years team has ALOT of players on it that experienced both the runs to the last two state championships, so yes this years team hasn't won a playoff game (yet), but they have 11 straight playoff wins under their belt. That's why we like our chances.

You are reading too much into it to see entitlement. Not what I or any other Panther fans I know would want you to think that. All I have heard about for the last half of this year is Bridgeport wants Liberty Hill. Maybe you guys think you are entitled to make it far enough to play us. That is a ways away for us too. We will see. I hope we do play you guys. I want us to play the best to be the best. Don't you just hate having to sit at home this weekend awaiting your first opponent?

Ah, yes but they are damaged easily due to a lack of protection while the feline is much quicker with (much)sharper teeth. (and quite a penchant for beef....)http://img2.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/characters/character0104.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net/free-confused-smileys.php):D

Whatever. I guess we are lucky just to be allowed to show up and play in this postseason tournament with all these teams that are out of our league.

And yeah, I guess we must have had the lowest difficulty of schedule to go 10-0... heck we must have had a bunch of forfeits to pull that off...

*sigh* What cracks me up is no one in Bridgeport is making reservations for state yet. We are excited about our team and looking forward to squaring off against others in the playoffs. Well, so now we know that you...

A.) don't hate the Bulls.
B.) have never watched the Bulls play.
C.) think the Bulls might be a good team as "only time will tell."

Now what do you know that they all don't?

Daddy D...Comprehend the wording in the post---I'm talking about C-O-A-C-H-E-S and their comments on the Bulls not T-E-A-M-S played. We are well aware for the 100th time that the some of the teams in our district did not have a great year, but we still respect all of them---some great traditions there, and we don't pick our district, we just play in it. Several of those teams have some pretty good coaches and football men who made the unsolicited comments about this year's Bulls. If there is any justice, I hope you will get to see those "cupcake" eaters up close and personal sometime down the playoff road.

Where's the smack filter on this site?

I've had a lot of fun following this season pretty much unaffiliated. I'm most interested in Celina (former residence) and LH (neighboring town) and I'll agree with another poster that 3A football (and smaller) is the most interesting to observe.

I've seen LH this and last year and this year's team isn't as impressive as previous years'. Maybe they can string out 6 more wins but I think not. Celina's always tough and have likely benefitted from some tough losses. That being said I don't think they'll go all that deep. The good news for the other 3A teams is that there will be 2 new champions. (I realize that Div I will be new regardless).

Its all opinions at this point. May the best teams win and everyone be sure to enjoy the trip safely.

Half the players on the both sides of the ball won 5 playoff games last year, 3 or 4 of them have won 11 straight playoff games. So I think it counts a little, you even asked on another thread if experience counts. The kids we have on this years team know how to win, they have been there before and they have seen it all.

Not saying it won't be enough to beat us, just saying we have seen the best and we know how to handle it. The question is, do you think you can stop our offense? That's the kicker in every equation that no one else ever understands, you see we see the spread just about every single week, so we have the schemes to stop it, our players stop it to some extent every week. But do your players know how to stop us? They are going to have 5 days to figure it out. The last team that had 5 days to figure it out and beat us was Cuero in 2005.

By this time of the season, nobody is, LHex. Teams are either hobbled by injury or executing much better.

I would hope so. But to keep bringing up a week 2 game as the design of our defeat is a bit of a reach. Especially when Lh was up I think 28-10 with 9:00 minutes left in the 4th. Then Wylie made a run passing the ball.

Yep, I was referring to a team that has never faced us, and only has 5 days of preparation in practice to beat us.

In 2006, when we lost in back to back weeks to Cuero and Wimberely, they were both against players and coaches we had already faced that knew what it takes to beat us.

You guys have trouble defending good passing teams? :D What are you going to do if you meet one that does both exceptionally well?

It's amazing what a winning season can do to some folks.

Past couple of years we'd get maybe one or two posts from certain teams fans.

All of a sudden they are back in full swing and it's "show me the money" time.

If you've been a member of this board for 2+ years, you shouldn't wait until your team is winning to go postal. :D Get it. :p

Guess those are the pitfalls of only have a good football school.

We will do what we have done for the last two years. I doubt you guys will show us something we haven't seen. I also don't think you guys would have beat Wylie this year. Like I said I want West(never played them), then Vernon(never played them), then Sweetwater(always wanted to play them), then maybe if you guys can extend your dream season that long we would be more than happy to send you guys back home and on to thump thump. I would be dissapointed if we don't get a chance to play those teams I listed. I feel they are the best in our bracket and I want to watch us play the best. This is the part of the season that gets fun. If I don't get a chance to see the Panthers play the Bulls I hope to watch the Bulls play somewhere.

Is that a rule? I think people find it much easier to post when winning. What do you have to say about your team when you continually lose? Something like "my terrible team is better than yours because we played 7 teams with winning record". Lets get real here winners will always be more vocal when talking about their team.

Sure, it's easier to post when your team is winning. Then you look at someone like Necks_Fan, who was on here every single week, win or lose, posting about the game, both his team and the opponent. He didn't slink off & stop posting just because his team wasn't getting it done. There's one thing that you can always count on in a game: one team will win, the other team will lose. Both teams need the same support!

I don't disagree with on the support but was just making an observation. Necks_Fan is the exception not the rule.

Hey now! Some of us who have been here 2+ years (or in my case, almost 7) do get postal....we just only do it during football season. And as for actual posting, I HATE smack talk, so I tend to stay out of these kind of threads. Something about smack talk feels like tempting fate to me, not to mention sounding like...well.....not so nice--so I keep my mouth shut and let the boys say it on the field.

ETA: My feelings about smack talk are mine and mine alone, and in no way indicative of my feelings toward any would-be smack talkers. :D
