Everyone better be on the lookout for the Navasota Rattlers. They may have a rough few weeks before football is over because a few starter are still playing in the playoffs, but four starters are back and eight of the top 11 are back.

Pratt and Jackson are as good in Basketball as in Football.

Looks like there are alot of teams from Region I on there. Does
any know when the season officially starts?

By the way, I've added the boys and girls basketball standings
to each district page. I will definitely need help in keeping the
standings updated accurately. Any help ya'll can give would
really be appreciated.

Brownwoo was left off because football didn't live up to their ranking.:)

Nobody was crying about Wylie being ranked in basketball.

TABC ranks the same teams every year pretty much. Mexia could return 0 starters and be in the top 20. There is no way Mexia is the number 9 team in 3a I guarantee that.

Pratt won't be with us this year , he will be enrolled in L S U come Jan .

Argyle boys and girls win state in basketball this season.

Silsbee, a state semi-finalist last year, will be back in Austin again this year. They return 3 starters and 7 other varsity players from last year, including 2 of their top 3 scorers from last year, one of those their leading scorer and 1st team all-stater Shannon Robinson.

Hardin-Jeff may occupy #1 right now, but after district play is over, Silsbee will have beaten them twice on their way back to the Drum.

Congratulations to Dexter Pratt on being not only a great athlete, but a great student and young man. I am very happy to see he has done well enought to gradulate at mid-year so he can enroll at LSU and get in Spring Practice. I will be a LSU fan for the next four years without a doubt.

Even without Pratt, the Basketball program will be successful. Good coaching, good quick athletes, fast pace, exciting basketball. Rattler will be a playoff team from this district.

regional finalists 06 and 07, each against silsbee (having beaten them earlier in the yr) and having lost a 10 pt lead to orangefield in the 1st round when they didn't miss a three in the second half (almost 80% for the game) or a run would have followed...

scott lead us his first two yrs and i don't see he got smaller or less experienced....

i'm surprised we aren't on the poll, and i'm even more puzzled la vega isn't on there, but i don't know all they lost....

Uh, Coldspring was not a regional finalist in '07.

The last four Region 3 regional finals were:

'05 Diboll over Silsbee 56-55
'06 WOS over Coldspring(don't remember score)
'07 Hardin-Jefferson over Silsbee 83-79 OT
'08 Silsbee over Hardin-Jefferson 62-50

In '06, Silsbee had defeated WOS twice in regular season, but lost to them in 3rd round 56-51.

Sweeny #14 at the beginning of the season. Not a bad place to start. They only lost their starting power forward who averaged less than 3 points/game and a backup point guard who played sparingly. The team may be stronger this year. Last year they lost to Hardin - Jefferson by 9 and they couldn't make a shot in the second half. We will see how they stack up versus Region 4 teams as they will play in the Corpus Christi Calallen Tournament during Christmas. Might we see #7 vs. #14
