Yup.....in the middle of the Yukon territory on my way from Alaska to Texas...picked up an old Eskimo. WOW...mistake...not sure he'd ever seen a toothbrush or a bathtub. He was nice though and thanked us for the ride.

Believe it or not, she was she was from Calallen trying to hitch a ride to Portland but ended up outside of Sinton. It was too easy. :p

Yes but it was many years ago when it was not considered as dangerous. Now they recommend that you not do it and they also recommend you don't hitchhike either.

kepdawg, Your question means something different to me.

Years ago I was involved in a business related incident in which I was losing a couple of my best employees to a group that was going to start a similar operation like I had. The move was an ambush type that caused much stress for me that day. After the day ended I began a long drive back to Lake Brownwood where I intended to go to my Lake House and have an Adult beverage and feel sorry for myself and wonder what I should do.
About 10 or 12 miles from Brownwood I passed a person walking down the highway with their thumb out. To this day I do not know why I slowed and turned around, however I did. As I went back I then noticed It was a female. She looked inside my vehicle and got in. She was in her 20's or so and told me her car had broke down at a friends and she was trying to get to another friends house.
I still recall the look of fear she had on her face as she rode with one hand on the door handle wondering what I was doing out and if she should have got in that BMW with the liquor bottle on the seat.
She gave me directions to an old trailer out in the country about 6 or 8 miles from where I picked her up. She nearly leaped from the vehicle as I pulled up in the dirt driveway...turned and said "thanks" and disappeared in the dark.

As I drove away that night I looked up at the stars and moon and began to laugh at how lucky I was. I overcame the setback and am better than ever...but I still sometimes think of that girls frighten face and how a hitchiker was sent to me to bring me back to reality.
