Anybody ever been to Zentner's Daughter in Loake or San Angelo? Is this the same place as the famous Loake's in the 50's-60's?

No. Lowake Inn is a different deal altogether. Lowake is between San Angelo and Ballinger. In San Angelo, there's Zentner's and Zentner's Daughter. The two Zentner's are not connected. Some say the best steaks in San Angelo are found at Twin Mountain.

The original Lowake Inn was owned by Phil Lorfing(sp?) and it burned down years ago. The present Lowake Inn is owned by someone else and is on the other end of town but has excellent steaks.

Thanks, 66'---I could only remember the name Lowake from when I was a young kid in San Angelo in the 50's and heard my folks talking about it a few years later.

Mrs. Trashman and I go to the Lowake Steak House two to three times per year. It is great and worth the 150 mile round trip!:D

My oldest daughter and her husband live in San Angelo, sometimes we meet in Lowake for dinner and a short visit. Great steaks and my baby. Well worth the drive!

There's a little hole in the wall place in Houston called The Hideaway that has Steak Night on Tuesdays and Saturdays...an 8 oz steak, baked potato and salad for $12.

I don't know what they use to season those steaks but they are the best I've ever tasted.

What cut do you like the best? Sirloin, Porterhouse, Ribeye, T-bone, NY or KC Strip, or filet mignon?

Trashman

I'm with you, Trashman, I think I would be willing sacrifice a little quality for a little more quantity-----how do you get to that Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo for that 72-oz. steak challenge?

The Big Texan is located at 7701 East I-40 in Amarillo, TX. You can't miss a place that looks like this......
