New Boston just toppled #7 (AP) Pleasant Grove 27-13

they can win at least a share of the district title and also keep the 2006 state champions out of the playoffs if they win against the other team from Texarkana, on the road

if Pittsburg can follow suit against Pleasant Grove, NB could surprise everyone and win it outright

(i think those are the rules in that district, anyway)

New Boston rolls 45-28. With all the attention on Farmersville and Tatum moving up, I doubt anyone saw this coming. Great season NB!

I have to pick New Boston also. LE has a lot of great athletes but earlier in the year they were not playing very well together. That may have changed since district began.

LE has too much speed and not enough offense for it to be this high of a game, NB wins 27-13

New Boston was only a 2A for one realignment. It's not as though they're playing in a class, or against teams, they aren't familiar with.

true, but my focus was on the fact that few (of those who would know about NB) would have pegged them for a potential 9-1 regular season after just moving back up

Honestly, NB may have dropped to 2A a couple of years ago, but their numbers remained close to or at 3A levels, and their level of play remained consistently high. As one familiar with district 16-3A and with New Boston, I would say moving "back up" has not been a factor for them.
