III without a doubt! It usually was anyway. The addition of Gilmer made it tougher.

It's kind of a wash with the loss of a couple of strong teams to Region I.

If nothing else, I guess this poll will give us a good idea of how
many posters we have from each region.

I didn't say anything about the strength of the regions. But Region III didn't get stronger by Gilmer joining, since LH AND China Spring are not in the mix. :p

We might just get the chance to say something about that in December if everything goes according to plan.

Even though I am a Region IV fan, I think Region III has the most competitive teams. But, All the regions are pretty tough, I don't necessarily think Region III has the the best teams, (they have a few, WOS, Gilmer, Navasota, Bellville) but they have a great deal of solid teams that if they get hot can make a run and be tough to beat in the playoffs.

It really isn't important how tough the region is, what matters is if your team is getting better each week and doing the small things to win football games. Because once your in round 3 or 4 it is a battle no matter what region your in and the small things matter.

Small Things (xtra points, clock management, field position, turnovers)

So you're saying Gilmer is as good as Liberty Hill and China
Spring combined.

Take away 2 and add 1 - doesn't add up to equal. ;)

With the top 2 teams (Liberty Hill & China Spring), I would have to say they are. then you throw in the other very good teams (Glen Rose, Abilene Wylie) and you got the best region 1.

WO-S has never played Gilmer but if both teams take care business, they would face off in the 3rd Rd.

Gilmer offence vs. WO-S defence. WO-S defence last nite held HJ to a total of 36 yards.

#2 offense vs #1 defense!!!!

How will WOS handle a team with the same number of athletes on the field?

How will Gilmer handle a team with the same number of athletes on the field?

We both have some business to take care of over the next three weeks first! I'm fairly certain that neither Diboll nor (possibly) Waco LaVega are just gonna hand us a victory!

Good luck to the Stangs until we possibly meet!:D

Region III is still the toughest region in 3A.

Carthage may take the whole thing, who do they play in the first round? Spanking Diboll like they did last Friday, should have sent a message to everyone.......Gilmer and Carthage out of East Texas have to be the odds on favorites to go the deepest from the piney woods! Piney Woods is a region, isn't it? :D

I count 9 R1 teams in the DLow Top 25. Will that qualify as a non-homer opinion?

Hard to disagree...but I'm sure it's coming.

bunch of homers! :D

R III will almost always be the toughest top to bottom, followed by II

IMHO, you can take the top 5-10 teams out of any region and the strengths of each of those teams would be comparable the majority of the time. As far as "top to bottom" strength, in years past (again IMHO), it has been Region III. Part of the reason is that in years past, Region III has contained quite a few (20+/-) more teams than some of the other regions. I haven't compared numbers after this past realignment, but the regions seem to be more equal in number of teams.

Glen Rose got beat by a 2A team from our county with a losing record. Very good---maybe not?

Region II hasn't been good since 2005.

headhunter

Who cares who they have played, all these teams are solid and both regions are tough there is no question. Region 3 is a little tougher. There are many quality teams other than the ones listed. Region 1 is tough as well, there will be a lot of good 1st and second round match-ups in both regions.

The bottom line is whoever wins their region is playing at a high level and you can throw out who has played who. In the semifinals and finals its all about execution and who wants it more. Oh and a little luck!
