I dont think we can rely 100% on the running game to win this one, as we have all season. Sandifer has proven over and over again that his defense can stop or at least slow down our one deminsional attack enough to win. We showed some signs of being able to move the ball in the air early on in the season. Better get that cranked back up Mustangs. I think we're gonna need it. If not for this one, no doubt at some point in the playoffs. Please lets not repeat the same pattern we have seen year after year after year after year!!! Mistakes from years past should be learned from, not ignored.

Having said all that. Great job this season Mustangs! Not many across the state thought you could do it. I must admit I had my doubts as well. But I have to hand it to these young men and coaches. You have exceeded everyones expectations, and I see no good reason why it cant continue. Go Get'em Mustangs!

Wylie seems to have had Sweetwater's number the last couple of years. Will this be the year the Mustangs overcome the Bulldogs's mojo? We'll see.

Sweetwater needs a passing game to get very far into the playoffs. They showed signs of one early in the season but we haven't seen much of it lately. A passing game is not something you can put on the shelf and get it down only when you need it. If you don't use it, you lose it. It must continue to develop each game. Sweetwater has a great running game but they have not developed the passing game and I'm afraid this will come back to haunt them. The haunting may start this week.

I hope they can pull "a rabbit out of the hat" and suddenly have a well-honed passing game but I doubt it. Maybe they will have just enough of a passing game to keep Wylie from stacking the box. Either way, its going to be quite a game to watch. Go Mustangs!

Wylie finally played up to potential for a lot of the game last night. They still had numerous chances to put Graham away for good and couldnt take advantage of some gifts. I dont think we can go in and play to the level of our opponent and expect to beat Sweetwater. They are gong to hit us in the mouth all night long and the bowl will be buzzing with hometown enthusiasm. Will be a great atmosphere too bad i wont be there but I do give my permission for you all to carry on accordingly.

The refs don;t hate wylie, they hate sandefer hes always giving them an earful, and this is some legit info straight from the mouth of a referee

We like to call it the horse trough. And of course we still have it. We'll always have the horse trough. In fact, when the new restrooms are constructed, the trough will certainly remain. It's the only way us poor Sweetwater folk know how to wash that West Texas dirt off our shoes. Just grab a paper towel to wipe the pee spots off,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,next thing you know, clean shoes.
It's a great system thats worked well since the 30s. No reason to screw that up now. :)

I'm not sure if we've ever played Dalhart. I'd have to go to the
team history page. I do know that we beat Perryton in the
playoffs back in 2003 by the score of 28-27. They could of
easily won by running out the clock. They had the ball at our
two yard line with a minute or so left. Instead of kneeling on it,
they tried to punch it in. They ended up fumbling and we drove
the length of the field for the winning score.

OK here's the scoop on Dalhart. It's way up north, like go to Amarillo, and then keep going some more. It's cold up there. I drove through Dalhart one time. I saw 2 dogs that were....... fond of one another. I'll never forget that because I pointed it out to my parents that there was a dog giving another dog a "piggy-back ride". :) Anyway, that's all I know about Dalhart.:)

We like upsets! I think we play better when we play a team that is suppose to beat us! We don't win them games all of the time, but we do play better!

I dont know how that was predicted. Wylie has high numbers in each of the five categories. Makes no sense to me.

Hope this game turns out to be a good one. Maybe more Sweetwater fans will show this time. I remeber the first time we played Sweetwater at the bowl. It was packed. I could not here the person next to me thats how loud it was. I hope to get that kind of atmoshpere tonight. Go luck to both teams! And may the best team win.

Go DAWGS! I am totally expecting that kind of atmosphere. Sweetwater is a great football town, and I'm excited to see the sea of red on the home side. Last district game...two undefeated teams, both primed to make long playoff runs...district title on the line...cool weather...and at the Mustang Bowl...what else could you ask for? (besides a win...obviously):D

One thing about the Sweetwater posters, they do believe in their team. No matter what the poss say or the records indicate, Wylie is a great team. Playing Wylie in thier yard is very tough. The Mustangs better have all the horses fed and rubbed down because a missed step or bobble will be taken advantage of by Wylie.

Wylie could very well win this game, upset or not, a win is a win. This should be a really good game and Wylie should be primed up knowing they will be going Division 1.

Sweetwater is a great team and they have a great coach. This game will be similiar to the la Vega game. A one dimensional team will have a tough time against Wylie's defense and Sweetwater just doesn't seem to be able to pass the ball. Sweetwater should have a great run in the playoffs, however.

But not entirely accurate. When I got to the bowl the restrooms were actually locked. So I quickly ran to the press box to pee. But you were correct about the light switch part. In my haste to releive myself I just threw open a door and let it fly. Not realizing till later, I had just soaked down the visitors radio station booth.
About that time a terrible stomach pain hit me, from the road burritos I had been munching on for the past 400 miles.
Just be careful where you sit or walk when you get there, is all I have to say.:tongue: :evillol: :taunt:

Sweetwater vs. Wylie has been a district matchup six times since the teams began playing each other on an annual basis starting with the 2000 season. The teams met as non-district rivals in 2002 and 2003, with Sweetwater winning both games. But Wylie has dominated when the teams have been district rivals, winning all six meetings.
Here is a brief look at those six games and how the Bulldogs and Mustangs eventually finished in the district standings:
2000: Wylie won 31-0. The Bulldogs won district while Sweetwater finished second that year.
2001: Wylie won 24-17. The Bulldogs won district again while Sweetwater got to the playoffs as the No. 3 team in Kent Jackson’s first year as head coach.
2004: Wylie won 13-7, but Sweetwater and Wylie wound up in a three-way tie for first place with Snyder.
2005: Wylie won 26-3, and the district title again was shared by Sweetwater, Wylie and Snyder.
2006: Wylie won 31-24. The Bulldogs won district and Sweetwater finished in second place.
2007: Wylie won 26-7. The Bulldogs again won the district title; Sweetwater was the third-place team.

What you will be HANDing us is the football. Or, sometimes dropping it on the carpet and we have to bend over and pick it up, or sometimes we have to just fall on it. And, don't think for a minute that we don't appreciate how many times ya'll HAND us the ball.
