I was at the game in 1993 with my father. It was the greatest game I have ever seen in any sport at any level. Unreal on both ends. Dane Johnson scores on the first play, Dexter Butler runs over Southlake, Chris Enloe plays great for a Junior,....... I still say Dexter didnt fumble at the end of the game which gave the game to Southlake. I hope that ref got what was coming to him.

Aston is playing DE for ACU. He is only gotten bigger and doing very well there. Also, I can say that the rest of the Vernon boys are doing well. Good Luck to the Wildcats.

Yeah there have been a lot of family names roll through Vernon. Cherry, Gaines, Whiteside, Enloe, to name a few. Aston is playing great at ACU as a true freshman.

There have also been a lot of Favors'. Keith, L.D., Eric, Shay and more. Shay was a 220 pound safety on our State Championship team who went on to play for ACU. I think he now coaches there. His son is a monster for Ft. Worth Dunbar.

Favors ! I forgot that one ! I thought Shay was the nicest guy, he worked for my dad when I was a freshman. He protected me in the halls. great guy. Brandon was in my class. He was very talented at WR but we didnt throw the ball a lot.

He's a little older than me so I'm not sure but I would imagine he was a beast as well.

Brandon was a good guy but he wasnt used that well. He was tall and big but Kyle Williams was a running QB and our only true threat running the ball. We did have Billy Gaines in the backfield who was better than Avg. Terrance Gaines was a freshman and if we had known he might have been a better choice, he was a stud the next year as a sophomore.
