Ingleside gave us a good game!! Couldn't ask for more. Well, maybe better refs, but they were bad for both teams so it's a wash, but I had to get my dig in. :devil:

I was close on my 38-21 prediction.

Next week it's on to Oso and a perfect 9-0 season! Don't lose focus boys. Get out there and pop 'em in the mouth, early & often!!!

Pirates clinch at least share of district title

SINTON -- Sinton is once again the top Class 3A team in the area.

A year after going winless in district, the Pirates clinched at least a share of the 31-3A championship by thrashing Ingleside 47-26 Friday night. Sinton remained undefeated at 6-0 in district and 8-0 overall and can win the title outright with a victory over West Oso in next week's season finale.

"This is one we needed to show everybody that we're back on top," said senior receiver Ram Sanchez, who had four catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. "The past two years were pretty tough, but what I like about this team is that we put it behind us and responded to the challenge."

Ingleside, meanwhile, dropped to 4-2 and 5-4 and is in third place behind Robstown, which defeated Falfurrias 52-0 Friday night to improve to 5-1 and 5-4. The Mustangs and Cotton Pickers close out the regular season next week in Ingleside.

Sinton quarterback duo of Carson Cave and Josh Harrison combined to pass for 241 yards and had a hand in all seven of the team's TDs.

A junior, Harrison passed for 140 yard and two touchdowns and led the team with 107 yards and two scores on the ground. A sophomore, Cave passed for 101 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 52 yards and a score.

Sanchez scored on throws of 36 and 62 yards, while Richard Orta hauled in an 8-yard touchdown reception and Reno Rendon one of 22 yards.

Ingleside quarterback Brian Hull completed seven passes for 176 yards, including a 95-yard touchdown pass to Dale Fabacher. Fabacher finished with four catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 88 yards and two scores rushing.

Ingleside opened the game with the ball at its 34-yard line and was left a yard short of a first down following three running plays, the longest of those an 8-yard run by Fabacher on a reverse to the left. The Mustangs lined up to go for it on fourth down and were able to draw Sinton offsides to keep the drive going.

Fabacher hauled in a short pass from quarterback Brian Hull on first and 10 from the Ingleside 49 and worked his way to the right sideline. The Pirates quickly swarmed Fabacher, but he somehow managed to slip through the gang of tacklers and race untouched the rest of the way to end zone with 9 minutes, 18 seconds left in the first quarter.

Sinton answered with a touchdown on its first possession, which began at its 32. The Pirates moved into Ingleside territory on a 34-yard completion from Harrison to Sanchez and scored four plays later when Harrison crossed the goal line from the 1.

Jeremy Laws added the extra point to give Sinton a 7-6 lead with 6:25 left in the first quarter, an advantage the Pirates increased after forcing a three and out on Ingleside's next series

Working from the Sinton 37, Orta broke free for 18 yards on first down. Cave then carried for 11 yards to put the Pirates at the Ingleside 34.

Looked like Sinton was going to roll early in this game as the offense wasnt going to be stopped, but Ingleside manage to stay in the game and even had a chance to tie it with its 95 yd Td pass in 3rd qtr which is only the 2nd time Sinton has given up any points in the 3rd Qtr this year. congrats Pirates and good luck next week Mustangs.

Fact: Ingleside was outplayed plain and simple. Our secondary was not able to stop Sinton’s passing game and was doing a very good job of stopping their running game either.

I felt that refs were making many bad calls. In the 3rd Qtr after Ingleside tied the game and on Sinton’s next series of offense Steve Hamilton intercepted the ball. The Int was called back for some reason. I didn't even see any yellow hankies, did anyone else? That really killed the momentum for Ingleside. IMO the refs were not very good. This might not have made a diff., but it sure does kill any team’s momentum.

With that being said Ingleside has to regroup and get ready for Robstown because if they don't play better against them, Ingleside might not be making the playoffs. As a matter of fact, I believe we need Sinton’s help as well.
