Man the refs did all they could to give it to them. Offensive interference on Tech my shinin' hinny. No block in the back my arse. NO holding on the tackle of our Defensive lineman on the long pass play. I guess it aint holding if they don't call it. Maybe they forgot who was playin defense that play. Great game anyway Tech!

Harrell just said he knew they'd win because Texas left them too much time. He's right. Texas snapped the ball with :22 left on the play clock with the game clock running on their touchdown run. They should have used as much time as possible. Horrible clock management!!
Congrats to the Red Raiders. But get your students under control. Act like you've been there before....... oh wait, you haven't!!!
Well enjoy it, you earned it....... Just hope you have something left in the tank for next week, Oklahoma State is for real.

one thing's for sure, there will be two B12 teams in the BCS this season
there could be a 3-way tie for first in the south
between ou, ut and tt---how would that be decided then?
of course, i am rooting for tech to lose to both oklahoma teams--then texas would be in the b12 title game, and given the craziness of the season so far, and the relatively high place texas is likely to retain in the polls, i don't think it is all over yet

It was a great win for Tech but a great comeback effort by Texas. Tech deserves to celebrate because they were ready. In fact I think they played above their heads. They will NOT beat Oklahoma in Norman and I think Oklahoma State has a 50-50 chance of beating them even in Lubbock. We will see.
But let TT celebrate tonight. They have earned it.

I am not blaming him for the whole game, but come on he dropped a cherry picked int that wins the game no TTech player was around him all he has to do is catch
like it or not, players make bad plays at bad times. We cant always gloss it over and say oh well good try

Then dont take what I say and turn it around to say I blamed ONE kid when I did not..works both ways ya know
I thought there were two things that happened in the last minute and a half of the game that were deciding factors.
1. The obvious - Gideon dropping a chance to play for the National Championship Trophy.
2. Texas snapping the ball with about 25 seconds on the play clock when they scored their last touchdown. They could have ran the clock down to appx. 1:04. Bad, Bad, Bad coaching and clock management. 25 seconds taken off of the clock means TT is kicking a field goal of 45+ yards with ticks left on the clock.
OUCH!!!
Congrats Tech!

I'm sure if I done some digging, I could find a post where a UT fan complained about the refs even after they won the game.

what a great game! i wish Texas could have held on to that sure INT at the end, but that's football!
Tech out played them early, plain & simple. Tech D was worn out in that last Texas TD drive, but the big discussion at our party was the time mangement at the end of that drive. Kill some clock. Sheesh.
Oh well...gotta get ready to play the rest of your schedule & let the chips fall where they may!

I was hacked at UT's last drive and said on this thread right after the TD that Tech was going to go score. Harrell said it after the game as well that we left them way too much time. I've seen some bad clock management over the years, but that was the worst I've ever watched in a situation as big as that one.
I'm not putting this on the defense at all. They played about as well as could be expected in the 2nd half. The blame is squarely on Mack and Greg for not getting Colt to run the play clock down. That was beyond ridiculous watching him snap it play after play with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. I expect to see something like that with the team I'm watching on Friday nights, (And I often do) but not a college football team with aspirations of playing for a national title. That was some Chris Webber level of stupidity on that drive. They could've given Tech the ball back with 10-15 seconds left. That inept use of the clock all but assured Tech of victory because there was no way Harrell and Crabtree were going to be denied with that much time. Gideon shouldn't feel bad at all about dropping the INT. He should've never been in that position to begin with.
I guess it'll at least be interesting to see how the tie-breakers work in the Big XII after OU, UT and Tech all finish with one loss in conference play.

Amen brother. All they had to do was snap the ball with 2 seconds instead of 20 on the play clock and Tech does not win. That was poor poor clock management. I have seen JH teams manage the clock better than that.
Also the refs did not cost Texas the game, but there were at least 10 times I noticed a Tech lineman practically tackle a Texas pass rusher.
Texas will win out from here and win the Big 12 south. Tech shot their wad tonight and will get beat at least once in the next 2 games.
Plain and simple Tech played great. Texas played horrible. Still Tech had to pull it out on the final play to win. Home field advantage was the difference beside the poor clock management.

How about the numerous pushoffs all night by the Tech receivers? How about the takedowns by the Tech linemen against Texas defenders, including one obvious hold on that last drive by Tech?

Agreed. Texas, despite the injuries and non-calls still had a chance to win in Lubbock. But they didn't. Time to move on.

Understood. And I'm certain there are plenty of other players on both sides of the ball that could say "if only I had.....". It wasn't one play, it was 60 minutes, which was my point.

I was out of town and just got a chance to check the tu/Texas Tech thread.
It was a great game. My daughter was there and said it was one of the best games she has ever seen.
You high and mighty tu fans need to quit blaming the refs, clock management in the last drive, that poor kid who dropped the ball, and tu's schedule, which up until now has been what you guys have attributed to their success. Show some class and congratulate Tech.
It was a great game. Tech dominated the first half. The burnt orange did an awesome job of adjusting at the half, but it was too little too late. You cannot let a team get you down by 19 and expect to win just because you are "The Texas Longhorns", and you certainly cannot expect Tech to roll over for you. I do think Tech was worn out in the second half. I even thought that tu had the advantage and momentum in the fourth. It just was not meant to be for tu. Tech did not give up, give in, or roll over for them even with seconds left on the clock. I think it says a lot for a team that will march down with seconds and pull out the win. Tech stayed focused, composed and got the job done.
It was great college football, and was not over until the last second was gone from the clock, hence the penalties at the end. Those are the most exciting and most heartbreaking games.
Congrats to Tech - great game!

First almost every UT fan on here has congratulated Tech
Second you say UT made great adjustments at half but it was to little to late...uhhh UT took the lead, so cant really be to little to late when you take the lead
Still love that you cannot simply call Texas UT

Congratulations to Texas Tech and I hope the Pirates run the table all the way through Miami where they can then hoist the Jolly Roger above Dolphin Stadium while each downing bottles of rum.
The "TU" slur (which I thought was only to be used by Aggies; other teams should have to come up with new variations) reminds me of how hilarious the "TT" logo on the Tech helmets were when I was growing up.
"TT" was the euphemism my parents taught me to say in reference to the bodily function known "technically" as urination.

well the game was amazing, new high and low emotionally for me especially since i was at the game...
I might now have a new most hated rival, after the game the majority of tech fans were the most classless people i have ever seen, after the game it was obvious that tech had never been or isn't a top tier team due to the fact their fans didn't know how to win, 3 out of 4 fans that walked by me after the game had some derrogatory (sp) comment with cuss words in between...i expected some of this and would have be cool...but the fact that 85% of the people after the game throroughly embarassed tech as a whole...
but in light of that, i really did appreciate the handful of fans that said good luck to texas smiled and shook our hand or apologized for their fellow fans and how they were acting...once again, this is not bashing just experience...
P.S. congrats to Tech on the win, could have gone either way, Texas shouldn't have been in the game to begin with, then they should have one with some better time management, and then Harrell throws to crabtree in double coverage when he wasn't open and so many variable there could have still allowed us to win...but crabtree made a play and the rest is apparently history..with that being said, i don't see tech beating both OSU and OU so i guess it will come up to BCS rankings

Bad fan behavior is always distasteful. Let's all agree one more time that everybody has got some bad fans and thankfully, they are usually in the minority.
Congrats to Tech for one of the biggest wins in their history. They just flat beat UT---plain and simple. UT didn't play 4 quarters of inspired "We are No. 1 and are here to prove it" football and got beat by a pretty good team who was hungrier than they were.
Maybe we can all be proud that it took a Texas team to beat a No. 1 team from Texas.

Now having said that......that should not be an excuse.
I think if Tech keeps UT out of the redzone they will win.
Now that may be stating the obvious, but here is why I said that. I think stopping the run inside the redzone will be more of a problem for Tech then outside of the redzone. Inside the redzone, UT will use their weight heavy backs to their advantage.
However, I think Tech's speed on defense will keep McCoy in check when he is running the ball.
[B]If Tech gets beat I know what will be said, but it sure will be nice to read on WHY Tech won the game.
One things for sure, if Tech ever had a chance to beat UT, this is the year and you longhorn fans know it.

Wasnt much better on here. But, looking at Techs past did you expect anything less? But, that doesnt take anything away from the Tech players they played great. I just look at it like this look how the Georgia Florida game went last year and then look how it went yesterday maybe Texas can get some similiar payback next year.

I am a UT fan through and through, and we all can find things that happened in this game that MIGHT have turned the tide for bith teams. The simple fact is that Texas Tech beat Texas. The dropped passes, refs calls, and any other excuse is just that, and excuse. The Tech defense played a fantastic game and really controlled the line of scrimmage most of the night. The Tech offense did what they always do and scored points. Crabtree and the other 9 or 10 receivers found opening after opening in the secondary.
Yes, I thoguht there were some missed calls by the refs, but if the Texas offensive line would have been able to control the Tech defensive line, it would not have made any difference. Tech lined up and whipped the Texas team at the line of scrimmage.
As for the Tech fans after the game, they have always had a problem showing class, but give them a little break here. They have never had the kind of success this late in a season. They are in uncharted territory and in contention for a National Championship now, but I am afraid that reality might just set in over the next three weeks. I don't believe they can maintain the intensity we saw last night for OK State and Oklahoma.
Texas will be fine and might still be the tem playing in the Big 12 championship. This is just one game in a season in the toughest division of any conference in the nation.

Well said I hope the way the Tech defense played for 3 quarters isnt forgotten because of the furious Texas 4th quarter comeback. IMO the way Tech has stepped up in the run game and on the defensive side of the ball are going to take them from an 8-5 team to a anywhere from a 10-2 to undefeated team.

This may have been said already but I don't have time to read 26 pages of posts so pardon me if I am redundant:
Texas enters the game after playing 3 top 10 teams in a row. tt had played a much softer schedule, and was at home. Let's see how tt looks 2 weeks from now.
Texas was flat, but when they got it together they didn't have any problems moving the ball. They just didn't have enough sense to score the last TD with less than a minute left.

That is right. Colt made one mistake in that he didn't manage the clock. On the UT touchdown he could have let 20 more seconds run down but he ran the play and left Tech with enough time to score. Even the Tech QB pointed that out.

You can tell where the tea sipping reputation comes from. What a bunch of prima donnas.
Granted they do not have to lose too often. Which is a good thing, but yeah, welcome to the taste of crow.
Even a nice tall glass of tea doesn't help wash down a bitter crow tasting loss. Does it?
Beautiful. When Longhorn fans start pointing the classless finger, I get to enjoy the three they have pointing back at themselves. ROFLMAO.
