Don't know how many of you out there are familiar with our part of East Texas, but I am delighted by the area teams that we still have playing. In less than a fifty mile radius, we still have 5 teams in the run-off. Jasper (4A) won tonight and it looks as though Hemphill is going to pull off the upset in 2A. Pineland (West Sabine Tigers) and Burkeville will be playing against each other next week in 1A, and of course our much loved Eagles. Congrats to all these teams, its amazing to realize how much talent we have surrounding us!

If you expand the radius to apx 100 miles then count Bridge City and Nederland that's 7 teams in our area! Amazing considereing the point we are at in the playoffs!

Don't forget Lufkin. That makes eight.

The impressive point is that in a 15 mile triangle you still have 3 teams in. Newton, Burkville, and Jasper. It is 15 minutes from Newton to Jasper, 15 from Newton to Burkville, and 15 from Jasper to Burkville. Also, 21-3A still has Newton and Bridge City in the playoffs.

Anything West of the Angelina is West Texas. This is DEEEEP East Texas, where you can climb a short pine tree and smell gumbo.
