Defending Super Bowl Champs vs Defending NFC EAST CHAMPS

Last meeting: Giants 21, @ Cowboys 17 (playoffs, Jan. 13, 2008)
Last Cowboys Win: Cowboys 31, @ Giants 20 (Nov. 11, 2007)

Cowboys are 16-3 in games preceding a bye

Cowboys have to keep it low scoring so they can still try and use the running game to keep the pressure of Brad Johnson. or is Wade Phillip making the move to Bollinger who is considered to have a livelier arm than Brad Johnson. He could also be a little more elusive in the pocket than Brad Johnson.

Giants win. Won't even be close. Brad Johnson will be on his back most of the day!

I can't help but be curious about Bollinger at this point. Johnson hasn't done anything too impress me at all. The Boys need a stronger arm and a younger set of legs to lead this offense with Romo out. The Giants will bring all kinds of pressure next week. I say play Bollinger and see what he can do. The Dallas D needs to bring that same intensity they had last week and keep Eli on his back. As always, I'm hoping for the best for the Cowboys.

There's a reason Bollinger hasn't taken the field yet. If you've yet to see him play, hope that you never will have to. He's only in Dallas due to being friends with Brad Johnson. Unless he's all of a sudden figured out how to play QB in the NFL, you'd be yelling and screaming for Johnson to be out there over him. He had a chance three years ago to show he could be a starter in the NFL and he failed badly.

I disagree...Not looking for Brook to throw for 350 and 4 TDs, but Dallas does need a QB who can at least get the ball to the WRs more than 5 yards down field. Brook can do that, plus he can at least move around and not be a statute in the pocket

Plus it is not like he has played for teams with TONS of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

If Brad Johnson plays QB, the COWBOYS have no chance. If Bollinger plays QB, they have a small chance. Go COWBOYS!!!

I think you have to give Bollinger a shot. Here are Bollinger's numbers from his starts:

14-of-28, 149 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (13-3 loss to Ravens)

11-of-21, 98 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT (30-3 loss to Panthers)

4-of-5, 26 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (27-0 loss to Broncos)

19-of-28, 251 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (21-19 loss to Saints)

15-of-37, 135 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (16-3 loss to Patriots)

14-of-26, 119 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (26-10 win over Raiders)

28-of-42, 327 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT (24-20 loss to Jets)

11-of-19, 100 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (31-21 loss to Patriots)

11-of-20, 153 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (30-26 win over Bills)

16-of-26, 176 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (34-0 loss to Packers)

Totals: 143-of-252 (56.7 pct.), 1,534 yards, 5 TD, 7 INT

There's only one game that he's had multiple INTs, and he hasn't exactly had a great supporting cast around him.

The thing that Bollinger brings is some mobility and stronger arm. You could run some desined rollouts or bootlegs to keep the Giants defense from just pinning their ears back, which is exactly what they are going to do against BJ.

I think the odds are very much stacked against the Cowboys this week. You might as well take a risk. By getting the Bucs game, you have guaranteed yourself going into the bye above .500. If you could go in there and pull out a miracle, great, but you're going to have to score some points to do that and I just don't think BJ can do that.

I was at the game Sunday and he missed several wide open receivers. I think the Cowboys left a minimum of 14 points on the field Sunday due to missing wide open pass catchers. Late in the game, Austin Miles was in the slot and ran a post; there wasn't a Buc within 10 yards of him running right down the middle of the field. BJ is so shell shocked, he almost immediately checked down to Barber. Also, the ball that Brooks almost made the INT, the TE was wide open, but the ball was late, underthrown and had no zip. The thing I noticed Sunday almost as much as how weak his arm is, is how late he is getting the ball out. A QB can get away with not having a rocket arm if he gets back quick and makes quick reads. BJ never had a strong arm, but now his reads are slow and doesn't get into his drop fast enough.

One more point on this, I noticed several times how pass catchers had to slow their route and make major adjustments to catch a pass. The above example with the TE and the deep ball to TO, also. TO had seperation early in the route, but the ball was late and TO had to slow down just a bit, which allowed the CB to recover.

They were lucky to win Sunday; they can't continue hoping to get lucky. If you think Bollinger is a long-term backup, why not give him the shot this week?

I think that the Giants win pretty big, but I'll be rooting for the Cowboys to win.

I think that the Cowboys need a defensive touchdown in this one.

Watched ESPN this morning and Wade has already announced that Brad Johnson WILL be starting againts the Giants, So if anything big happense between now and then Johnson will be starting against the Giants. Hopefully though ROMO wil say he's heald and show up suited to go.

He's given Johnson the dreaded "vote of confidence". The Cowboys are planning on giving Brooks Bollinger some reps with the first-team offense, so read into that what you will. The Cowboys have reserved all of their first-team snaps for the starting QBs so far this year.

As always I'll be rooting for the Cowboys, but unless we score on defense AND special teams, I just don't see how we CAN win with BJ or Brooks at QB. Hell, even with Romo in there and the o-line play it wouldn't be a "shoe in". :bigcry: :D

NFC East records, the Giants are 1-0 (beat the Redskins), the Redskins are 2-1(beat Cowboys & Eagles), the Cowboys are 1-1(beat Eagles) and Philly is 0-2(lost to Cowboys & Redskins).

Giants remaining opponents include 5 division games and 4 non-division opponents Baltimore(4-3), Arizona(4-3), Carolina(6-2) and Minnesota(3-4) - the Vikings the only team currently with a losing record in the remaining schedule.

Cowboys remaining opponents include 4 division games and 4 non-division opponents San Francisco(2-5), Seattle(2-6), Pittsburgh(5-2) and Baltimore(4-3) - 49ers and Seahawks with losing records remaining in the Cowboys schedule.

The game today---short and sweet and to the point. If the Cowboys protect Johnson and are able to run the ball---they might pull off the win. If Johnson is the "Human Pinata" referenced by several sportswriters---forget it---game Giants.
I'll still be yelling for the Cowboys every step of the way.

Go Cowboys!

New York will have to play the worst game they've played since Jeff Hostetler was the QB to lose this game. It'd be good for Washington for Dallas to win this, but that doesn't seem likely going into this one. That's why you play the games though I guess because anything can happen.

If they make the play-offs it would mean they won at least 5 of last 7 games So they would be then on a roll

If they then win two games to at least get to Title game in NFC, unless Wade quits I dont think there is anyway they can fire him.

You would have to then argue that Wade righted a ship full of drama and injuries and turned them around and got them in the play-offs and one game from the SB
