Biggest surprise or disappointment?

I'll take the high road and vote Celina.;)

After 1-9, Sinton at 7-0 is a pleasant surprise.

But....

of the choices given 3-5 Brownwood

Obviously I'm surprised by Brownwood's record, but Celina losing 3 games in one season is more surprising than Brownwood losing 5.

So, I picked Celina. And Snyder at 5-3? They are right where I guessed they'd be, I didn't see them replacing all those studs that quickly.

I started to put Sinton in the poll, P4S, but didn't because I was kind of afraid how the Sinton faithfull would interpret that and ask why I considered that a surprise. No guts--no glory, I guess. :D Hope folks will contribute their opinion of the biggest surprises so far this season, even though not in the poll. Thanks for yours.

Celina losing 3 has me baffled. Those runningbacks were sophs when LH and them faced off in the State Championships. I would think they could impact more games.

Brownwood doesn't surprise me. They lost 4 out of their last 6 games last year. Why should the trend be any different to start the year?

I think the biggest surprise for me is Brownwood at 3-5. I really thought that Burnet would beat them early and that Brownwood would be 2-6 right now. But, realistically, all that BW tradition is usually worth a game or 2 a yr. :taunt:  :taunt:

I can't honestly say I'm surprised about any of the teams listed.

Brownwood (3-5): Playing with somewhat equal numbers doesn't make the level of competition any less. Sometimes preseason hype isn't all it's cracked up to be. BAM - Welcome to 3A.

Celina (5-3): the higher level of teams scheduled coupled with the loss of several really talented players and some key injuries

Snyder (5-3): any given Friday night...

I think there are a few (including some LH folks) that are surprised at us being undefeated at this point. I won't mention any names *cough duckpluck daddyd and others cough* ;) but there are some that felt our schedule was too much for this team based on "who and how many" we lost to graduation, plus the fact that Jeff Walker took a job elsewhere. I tried to tell you we'd be fine! :)

the biggest suprise is that Bwood and Celina are a combined 8-8.

My biggest surprise is that Rocket hasn't popped a vein as of yet (well, not that we know of anyways).

since cleveland wasn't in anyone's polls at the beginning and are now in some top 10's, i'd think their winning is more surprising, though just slightly, than celina's loses....

Celina is my biggest surprise. I knew that they had a tough schedule and lost some quality player to limit experience. I never dreamed that they would be in this position though. I thought the tradition and strength of the program would carry them through. I really expected them to have only one loss by this time. Brownwood did not surprise me that much because they were playing the cream of the 3A crop in pre-district. Most any of those teams could compete well in 4A and might just beat most good 4A teams. Brownwood posters just mistook the quality of play that Texas 3A football can show. Now they know and I believe respect that nothing come easy in this league. And, Snyder is Snyder, they can get on a roll and play with anyone or hit a skid and struggle at any time. They are about where I expected now.

The only one of the three I've seen is Celina. They're about where they should be record-wise at the moment in my opinion.

Brownwood seems to be the biggest surprise. THE WOOD fans can say otherwise, but not having Vaccaro at the back of the defense has to have taken a toll on that side of the ball.

Brownwood. Dropping down from 4A, and the high preseason ranking.

Celina a close second.

Celina losing?? That just is not supposed to happen.
Brownwood was just overrated.

I will admit it. I did not think we would be 3-5 and fighting for our playoff lives.

My prediction was somewhere between 6-4 and 8-2 and at the very least making some pretty big noice in the playoffs.

Not because we droped to 3A, I just thought we would be that good! Still belive we can be, but time is running out

3-5 Brownwood, without a doubt. Looks like, for now anyways, the best thing coming out of Brownwood is take out from Underwoods.

Sorry, Sinton

I guess for me life is all about Brownwood. I was thinkig that post was that you were pleasantly suprised that Brownwood was 3-5.... Just was not paying attention to your quote.

Thought you were being funny...

Congrats on your current record and good luck the rest of the year

Celina since I figured they'd still be unbeaten. Brownwood because I figured they would only have 2 losses instead of 5. Sinton because I figured 1 loss by now. I like Brownwoods uniforms. If you're colors are maroon and white thats the type of uni's to have. Those are sharp. I wish Sinton's were like that. Black and maroon just don't mix. Maroon and silver or white yes. black no.

Brownwood being 3-5 is a major surprise to me. I never thought they'd tear up 3A, but I figured they'd at least be something like 6-2 considering their high preseason ranking.

Celina at 5-3 is only a little off where I thought they'd be, considering their brutal schedule. Losing Waldrep was a big blow -- and even without him, they still came real close to pulling out Whitehouse and Daingerfield.

I would say I am not entirely surprised by any. Certainly not Snyder. There were ( and still are) some questions about Celina and the QB and line situation. I thought we had a real chance of losing 2 at this point. BW I thought was in a tough group of teams on their schedule and thought they would be 4 - 4 and Snyder is where I thought they would be as well. Sinton is the surprise for me this year at an undefeated stance.

I voted for Brownwood.....had it not been for the preseason hype on THIS board from some of their "more than zealous" fans, I don't think I would have been surprised.

But....after reading those posts from February 1st til the season started, I was ready to be in "Shock and Awe."

I AM in "shock and awe" but for a completely opposite reason now!!

I am not as surprised by Celina as I am about Brownwood. I really expected more I guess. Coming from 4A and all. I guess Celina would be okay if we had dropped to 2A but you never know. I guess both are surprising yet expected for everything to have to step back a little. I mean Celina was 31-1 over the last 2 years coming into this season. That is a hard line to tow every year, right Liberty Hill?
