Go Horns!

OldBison75

This might be the best contest in the nation this week. Ohio and Penn State get the press, but Texas and OK State are top teams. Both teams will scortch the scoreboard. Texas needs the intensity of the Oklahome game and they will beat anyone. Watch and see who can avoid turnovers and they will probably win. In a battle of good offenses, look for neither defense to control the game.

I'm looking forward to this game and say GO HORNS with ya.

Come on Horns, continue to come out and score quick. If Texas scores plenty of TD's Quick then OK St. will have to rely on passing game. I don think they will be able to hold Texas D IF it comes down to that. Hook'Em baby

From both teams probably too!
I think Okie State may have more players from Texas than UT does!

Way to go McCoy and Shipley. 2A and 3A showing they can play big time ball.

charlesrixey
10-25-2008, 03:07 PM
7-0 Texas late in the 1st Q

shipley just caught a 14 yard pass for the TD

shipley is pretty much the offense so far, with 4 catches for 52 yards and 1 rush for 17 yards

McCoy is already 12-14 for 108 yards

sinton66

McGee for a five yard TD. Kick good. Texas 14, Oklahoma State 0.

Well 21-14 at halftime and Texas' Offense is looking good so far, but D isnt playing too well. OK St. gets the ball start of 2nd half so i hope Texas can stop em all the while continue to score. Hook Em baby

Texas is in my opinion still dominating this game. Defense will adjust and stop the big plays in the 2nd half.

They're up against a very good offense. Okie State is better than Missouri or Oklahoma.

the difference in this game was two play calls by the offensive coordinators.

on fourth down ok state had a terrible middle screen call to dez bryant and on 3rd down i believe texas called a play where they fakd a screen and threw it to a wide open shipley.

great game for both teams but this game was decided by how the coaches called plays

Agreed...as much flak as Greg Davis catches (quite a bit of it deserved IMO), he's had some very effective game plans this year.

Yea IMO Ok St. is ahead of Oklahoma(or should be in the standings). Ok St. is a tough team to play and i believe they will give Oklahoma and Tech a helluva game. Ok St. is a better team than Oklahoma in overall production IMO. they came into Austin and gave Texas a Heck of a fight. Good Job Horns and good job to the Pokes. Another big game in the BIG 12 and right now if Big 12 wasnt divided into North/South i would say that Texas/Ok St. should play for Big 12 Championship. I also believe Texas let the media get to em this week and following all the hype that said OK St. will get the upset. IMO i think this is good for Texas so now they can go back to the drawing board and Muschamp can get ready for Tech's high scoring offense and Davis can create a new offensive game plan for the Tech Game. Good job Horns.

Great win by the Horns. The defense will need to play better against Texas Tech though.

sinfan75
10-25-2008, 06:16 PM
As they quoted Muschamp " Texas ain't that good at stopping the run but they ain't that bad defending the pass"! Or something like that. Next week oughtta be fun game to see.

BTownVBall3
10-25-2008, 06:26 PM
I would of liked to hear that quote. Although they gave up quite a few yards on the ground today, they were 2nd in the nation in run defense..Terrible

The Texas D wasn't great today but they were great when they had to be.

bigYoe
10-25-2008, 06:35 PM
Texas was 2nd in the Nation in run Defense, but look at where OK St. was at in the nation on Rush Offense. Looked like Texas Rush D did a pretty good job to me. HUGE props though on OK St.'s D, they held Colt and the high powered offense to a low scoring game. GOOD job to Colt though for completing 38-45 with 390 yards. Seems like when he has less yards the Horns win big. Hook'Em Baby

BTownVBall3
10-25-2008, 06:39 PM
Saying Texas has a weak run defense is like saying that Colt McCoy isn't a great qb. Both had a somewhat off night. Yes i know Colt threw for 391 but when you have so much hype building I guess that even makes 1 int and fum look like a bad game.

10-25-2008, 06:44 PM
You have to give credit to the Okie St RB #34 i think. He is a great RB. Okie St didnt use him enough. And the TE to. They should have given UT a healthy dose of the RB and TE and they didnt. UT was having problems stopping the RB.

sinfan75
10-25-2008, 06:46 PM
Announcers were referring to Texas Defensive rankings. They said Muschamp didn't think UT was 2nd best stopping the run but at the same time he didn't think they were the worst at defending the pass. Of which I agree.

Way to go, Curtis Brown from Gilmer. He batted down that final OSU "Hail Mary" attempt.

This game shouldn't have been that close. I think big Cody could've gotten in the end zone on fourth down on that final possession. I thought he might even have broken the plane with the ball on third down.

On the other hand, on the big play to Shipley a few plays before, I was surprised OSU didn't ask for a review. I'm not sure he got even one foot down in bounds.

To them, those short passes for 3-4 yards are equivalent to a running game.

I can't believe we haven't seen more of Fozzy Whitaker. I work with his mother and she said his knee is healed and he's ready when they call his number. He got some carries in garbage time vs Mizzou but nothing today. The ESPN experts were talking about him all summer.

Even if he had been out and gotten the benefit, it would have just offset an earlier one where they called him out at the three but he actually scored ( even the announcer said he was in).

some will forget that he still has an 80% passer rating

so now his stats are 80%

21 TD's, 4 INT's

about 2000 yards

he's allowed a little wiggle room

and the score could've been 41-24 if they'd punched it in, so i don't feel so bad about the offensive gameplan overall

Well, there will still be Baylor with Robert Griffin (VY Lite) and a testy trip to Lawrence for KU, A&M in Austin, and then the Big 12 Championship which will most likely be a rematch with Mizzou if they make it that far.

Still tons of work to do and many game balls to bury.

Hold up there partner. I wouldn't say if Texas wins out they are automatic to the National Championship. Although they won today they didn't look good, but a win is a win. A&M has had their number 2 years running, and even though they don't look good this year, I think this is the one game they have been waiting on all year. Yes even though McCoy threw an int. and had that fumble, he completion percentage is still ridiculously good. He went 38 for 45 which is unheard of and only score 28 points. I was dissapointed with the D though, they knew the Ok St. gameplan and still couldnt hold em. Just glad that McCoy's "off night" was so outstanding again. Good job horns but they need to step it up against Tech. We all know Tech is going to throw the ball so if the D can hold em for a few series' and our offense scores (as it usually does) then we should be able to come out on top. Hook'Em baby
