I watched a good Anahuac team go up 12-0 in the first half against Bridge City. The two teams were both undefeated in District play. The second half was all Bridge City, as they won 20 to 12 for the 21-3A Championship..In the JV game Bridge City prevailed 40-0. It has been interesting since the Bridge City Varsity is having to utilize 11 Sophomores, that the remaining Sophomores have been able to more than hold their on this season...GIVE US SOME SCORES AND DISTRICT CHAMPIONS CROWNED TONIGHT IN NINTH GRADE 3A FOOTBALL.

Bellville's 9th grade team beat Sealy tonight 36-14 to win district. This group of boys have been undefeated since the 7th grade. Bellville won six games tonight and made it a clean sweep of Sealy in sub varsity play. Go Bellville Varsity Beat Sealy!!!!

Rice has a combined Freshman and JV team that beat Wharton last night for the District 28 3a title 35-12. Rice went 10-0 for the season. Way to go boys!!! We're proud of you!

Now this is terrible. Is this the best you can possibly do? Let me know when they start letting the Ninth and J.V. teams go to the playoffs. By the way, how did the B.C. varsity end up.

Celina freshmen won 9-3A. Pilot Point and Pottsboro chickened out and wouldn't even play us.

What's up with that?

Orangefields Freshman team went 7-1-1 on the season. The only lose came to a very talented Bridge City Freshman bunch. Orangefields freshman also had a big win over Anahuacs jv team a while back so I will give them some props also... GO CATS!!!!

Now this is terrible. Is this the best you can possibly do? Disagree. Some of us like to keep up and know what the future may hold

I have read criticisms before about making any predictions based on success in Junior High or Freshmen or JV teams. Obviously, a star player can move, get injured, get involved with alcohol or drugs, etc. and change the whole complexion of the team. Other teams have key players mature physically and mentally after they turn 16 and their teams do better at the varsity level than they did at the younger level.

However, there are many teams whose play at the varsity level is indicative of the way they played together in the years before, good or bad. For example, many of us in Greenwood were not surprised by the success of last year's and this year's team. These seniors have been winners and have looked impressive since they were 4th graders playing in youth football league.

In reply to this post, I'm sure Monahans was the "District winner" of Freshmen Football in 4-3A. They are a talented bunch and, barring any major changes, will have an incredible impact on the success of Monahans football their Junior and Senior years.

Watch out, in the next 2-3 yrs. B.C. will not be stopped.......NOT........ That is a result of being twice as large as any other school in the district. Once they are on varsity in a couple of yrs. it will even out. They probably have 40 kids out for freshman football.

Well guys...there are a lot of people who care about the kids of all of these teams. Just because you are not a junior or senior doesn't mean that you can't be recognized. This may be all of the recognition that these kids get this year. If the topic offends you, then please exercise your right not to click on the heading that clearly states the subject of this thread.

To "who cares it's only freshman" if you use that logic the people who only like pro football would say who cares it's only high school or it's only college football. Believe me those games are just as important to the kids playing them as the Dallas Cowboys games are to them.

Would someone be kind enough to share who the winners are for 9th grade from 18-3A,19-3A, 20-3A, 22-3A, 23-3A, and 24-3A? This is the only time possibly that these youth are recognized for their achievements.

Da Mules

The JV mules got upset by Lubbock Cooper in a game marred by 5 Mule turnovers, lost 17-12. 1st game these kids lost since they were in the 8th grade.

We all know success at the junior high through JV level is not a guarantee of anything at varsity. But it is a good indicator of how a particular group will match up against others of the same age in the future. Our 2000 Mules were dominators against all comers since they were in the 7th grade (until they ran into Dabryan Blanton & Forney at Texas Stadium, that is. Too much speed, damn it.) The current bunch of senior varsity kids never had a winning season since they were 7th graders, and they have finished their varsity years in similar fashion. We have high hopes for da MuleTrain in coming years.

I highly agree with Vet93 on this one. If you guys don't want to read about freshman/JV/Jr high, don't open the posts which are labeled as such.
