BaD Radio on KTCK in Dallas just had a segment on what the Rangers roster would look like if they had hired a fern instead of Jon Daniels. So no trades or free agent signings during the time since Daniels was hired. Players in the organization and draft picks are the only players considered.

C: Taylor Teagarden
1B: Mark Texiera
2B: Ian Kinsler
SS: Michael Young
3B: Chris Davis
LF: Alfonso Soriano
CF: Gary Matthews Jr
RF: Mark DeRossa

DH: Adrian Gonzalez

P: John Danks
P: Edinson Volquez
P: Chris Young
P: Eric Hurley
P: Scott Feldman

Closer: Fransisco Cordero

Regardless of who the GM is or was, Tex wasn't staying in Texas.

If the FERN cannot sign FAs..how can this plant resign the ones like Tex and Mathews Jr?

Don't forget Dave Stewart and Rick Honeycutt.

P.S. Bobby Witt, too.

Most of those really good players they traded away didn't become really good until they were traded away. So if they had stayed they would not be the same caliber of player that now makes us say WOW!
But it does say tons about the whole organization.

this would be a good roster, but you can do this with almost any club in baseball..

and like txbroadcaster said, how did they resign players if they can't sign FA's??

and couldn't we add Armando Galaraga and Edinson Volquez to our pitchers??

Would this be an air fern or one that requires water?

If you just look at the names it might..but almost every one of those not on the roster in reality are not there for valid reasons. It is just Ranger fans have a tendency to not really look at the valid reasons and only gripe

You can say that about all the players we lost on that list except Chris Young and Adrian Gonzalez.. In hind sight we got ripped off in that deal, but I think everyone saw that as a gamble and we lost big time..

And thank god we traded Mark Teixeira or we wouldn't have two of our top prospects (SS Elvis Andrus, and SP Neftali Feliz <-future stud) and Matt Harrison, who was one of the more consistent pitchers towards the end of the season..

On top of that Jon Daniels also traded the largely overrated Eric Gange for David Murphy, who had a break out year this year..

Nobody looks at the good things Daniels has done for the franchise, only the bad things.. He has turned our farm system into arguably the best in baseball and given the Rangers hope for the future

Great...so we'd have a malcontent at 1B who would be leaving this offseason, a CF who barely hit his own weight, and an average RF to go along with our closer who self-implodes every time he pitches at Rangers Ballpark.

Obviously, that rotation at the top two spots would be an upgrade, but other than that, I'd have a hard time if that was what the Rangers were running out there.

Yeah I'd rather go watch Frisco anyway.

Now they've got some serious prospects there...the RoughRiders are always fun to watch!
