I don't know their records, but the top three enrollments are Sanger, Gainsville, and Prosper. In that order. Celina is the smallest school in the district.

I knew it had to be Prosper or Argyle

gainesville just lost to Sanger 16-14

Sanger has already lost to Celina, 56-6

it will be prosper, celina and argyle in the playoffs, and thus Prosper will be d1

(speaking of d1, the eagles will have a good chance to win the region)

does argyle have a good shot of beating celina this season?

The big school should be Prosper. Unless, Sanger or Gainesville beat out Celina or Argyle.

I know the D1 representative is determined by enrollment figures prior to realignment. However...If the numbers were looked at today, Prosper would definitely be the "Big School." I think Prosper now has between 1400 and 1500 students. Sounds similar to Frisco Wakeland in our district last year.

I'd say it would be the third place team because I really believe we will finish first now. North Lamar will be the big school in our district.

So, since Prosper beat Celina does that mean they should win out & win district?

Prosper has 3 bad teams left, Whitesboro, Gainesville and Sanger. Prosper should roll in all of them.

Does that mean that Prosper would play North Lamar in the first round then?

3A, they lost to Gainesville in District and lost to Atlanta, I think, in the playoffs. Interesting that their only 2 loses was against the 2 teams that won state that year. I think I'm correct in this statement.

Thanks for the correction.

BTW, I'm not a Celina resident, never have been. However I do have a couple of good friends from Celina.

Prosper only has 700 kids not even close to 1400.

They currently have over 1000. This is per Prosper ISD.

Hopefully we will win our next three games, but if that happens we will be DI.
We (Prosper) have 750ish.
Argyle has 567. (From UIL Website)
Celina has 479. (Also from UIL Website)
Those figures have most likely changed since when they were taken.

Oh and as for P.I.S.D. we have around 3000 students this year, we actually underestimated growth for the district before school started!!
 haha

As of OCT. 22 2008 Prosper High School had 719 students in the high school. Should be 3A at least 2 more rotations. Then lord help them.

hopefully we will still be 3A! Though we grew about 70 kids from last year so anything could happen and all the upcoming freshman classes have 200+ kids.

What the enrollment numbers are right now won't matter in this year's playoffs. UIL will use 2007 snapshot figures to assign divisions over the next two years.

Are you thinking Van Alstyne will win 10 3A? I'll stick with my Paris boys to come out on top. The record isn't as good but the competition has been a LOT stronger.

no, this should be for VA in third place-if celina is second in 9-3A (but first in d2) then Argyle will be the third place team, second in d2-the pairings are as follows:

Division 2:

W9-R10
W11-R12
W13-W14
R16-Bye

R9-W10
R11-W12
R13-W14
W16-Bye

R-runner up
W-winner (top d1 district finisher)

Ok thanks. Has Celina played Argyle yet? I also see Van Alystene finishing third behind Paris and North Lamar.

Celina closes out against Argyle at home. That game will be for D-II seeding.

VA will clinch a playoff berth by winning tonight. They got a break with the schedule, getting the weak teams first. I don't think they can handle NL or Paris' speed.

North Lamar doesn't have much speed but they have a huge offensive line and will just pound the ball up the middle about 40-45 times a game. Very little passing but it's always a surprise when they do finally throw.
