Well this didnt take long. Of course I voted for Sweetwater, but if our boys cant manage to hold on to the ball a lot better than they have all season, they wont stand a chance in any of the 3 games they have left. But if they get that under control, they are completely capable of running the table.

BTW--- I hear that Xavier Malone for Snyder is considering moving to Wylie next year for his Jr. and Sr. year. Any truth to that?:D Seriously, he is one good looking kid. Snyder fans--- is Malone related to the legendary Hulen Malone? I played summer baseball against him 35yrs ago. Wes Bishop (Brett and Reid's) dad (who grew up in Snyder) was a college teammate of mine at ACU but he played on Snyder's summer team with Hulen Malone. Hulen was probably 35-40 yrs old at the time we were in college and he could still flat out play. I will never forget that old dude.

I would really like to talk lots of smack for this game, but my Mustangs inability to hang on to the dang ball scares me. One or two is somewhat understandable in a physical game, but the 4 or 5 we seem to have every game is unacceptable. Thank goodness we havent been playing teams the quality of what we have coming up the next 3 games, or we would have 3 or 4 loses by now. We have a very good team on both sides of the ball that can hang with anyone and beat most. But our excessive turnovers have kept several games close that should have been over by 1/2 time. If that continues as has been the pattern, we will go 0-3 the next 3 weeks. These games are going to be hard enough to win, even if now mistakes are made. IDK maybe our boys have just been taking their opponents too lightly and just losing intensity and concentration. But it's been my experience that you cant just turn it on and off like a light switch when you need to. These boys better learn to turn it on and keep it on from here on out, or it's going to be bball time in about 3 weeks.
Having said all that, I'm not trying to take anything away from Graham at all. They may well be the class of the district next season. They have a very young team that has been getting better and better every week. Their going to be very tough to beat next year, and they could easily sneak up on a couple more wins this season.

Snyder was impressive against Wylie. Sweetwater breeds football players. If Sweetwater can hold on to the ball, they may take this. If not, Snyder will win big.

After watching both teams I would say Sweetwater by 7.I think Sweetwater will run on Snyder and if they cut out mistakes it could be even worse.Sweetwater is more physical and has a better D.

No he would never move to Wylie lol, but I think he's had some family members play in the NFL

The GOTW this week pits the Sweetwater Mustangs 2-0 against the Snyder Tigers at 1-1. This game will feature the annual bloodbath rivalry after a two year recess. The Mustangs come into the junk yard after a late scare against the Graham Steers in a tie for the district lead. The Tigers will be attempting to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to the Wylie Bulldogs. This game will hinge on whether the Mustangs can stop the turnover bug-a-boo after losing 5 of 6 fumbles against the Steers. For the Tigers it will be whether they can put last weeks loss behind them and bounce back and stop the Mustangs running game.

This game has huge implications and will set up the playoff implications that will be in the balance for the last two weeks of the season. The winner of this game puts themselves in a really good position to make the playoffs. The loser will be somewhat behind the eightball. If Brownwood beats Graham this Friday, the loser of this game will probably have to beat Brownwood to make the playoffs. If Wylie beats Breck this Friday, there would have to be some really weird cirmcumstances for them not to make the playoffs because they have the tiebreaker over both Snyder and Brownwood, at least when it comes to Head to Head. Wylie still needs to win two of it's last three to assure themselves a spot. Looking at the matchups there could very easily be three 3-2 teams tied for second and if Wylie stumbles their could be four 3-2 teams. Not sure at the moment what the multiple team tie breakers are but I have a feeling it's going to come down to it.

It's going to be an interesting ride over the next two weeks, so let the games begin and the chips fall were they may. There will be a really good football team not make the playoffs. Hopefully the UIL would stack a district like this again next time.

This week - Wylie beats Breck, Brownwood beats Graham

Wylie is 3-0
Brownwood is 2-1
Graham 0-3
Breck 0-3

**Cinerio #1- Snyder wins: Tigers 2-1, Mustangs are 2-1.
Snyder plays Breck then BW
Sweetwater plays BW then Wylie

Snyder would "more than likely" play BW the last game @ 3-1
BW would have just played SW, and they will either be 3-1 or 2-2, either way Snyder and BW would be playing for a playoff spot with the winner having the tye breaker.

Sweetwater would have BW and Wylie the last two weeks. At 2-1 they would have to win at least one of those games to get in.

**Cinerio #2 - Sweetwater wins: Tigers are 1-2, Mustangs are 3-0.

Snyder would "more than likely" play BW @2-2. Whether BW is 2-2 or 3-1 would make any difference.

Sweetwater would enter the last two weeks 3-0, and having to play BW and Wylie. They could technically lose both games and still get in if BW beats Snyder the last game.

Conclusion: and remember this is all hypothetical and just my opinion (which I know most of you could care less) but it is interesting. It is more important for Sweetwater to win this game than it is Snyder because of who they have left on the schedule. Barring a huge upset by Breckenridge over either Snyder or Wylie, Snyder still may only have to beat BW to make the playoffs the last game regardless of what happens this Friday. It will be much more difficult for Sweetwater to make it if they lose this Friday.

Massey Rankings pick Sweetwater by 14 if Sweetwater plays the way they should and can I agree 27-13 but if the same underachieving stangs show up they lose.
The reason I put it like this is Sweetwater has always had more talent than anyone in west texas for the last 25 years going back to 1983 and some years done great like '85 when they won it all but most of the time they will do good with a little run but with the talent they have nahhh not hardly good enough.

In 1988 Sweetwater was the top ranked team in the state the whole season just about, then lost in the first round tons of talent that year Div1 back Norman. This team should of done so much more they beat Monahans for the district title 23-7 in Lobo land and Monahans went to Quaterfinals and lost to Cleburne. In this season there is no way the stangs should of lost I thought they would win another title this year.

Note: I hope my year is correct I believe it is.

Don't under estimate the Tigers defense. They are the best open field tackling team we've played so far and they have plenty of speed.

I really think these two teams are evenly matched. These types of game are usually decided by turnovers in your own territory giving the opponent a short field. I think both defenses will make enough plays to prevent long TD drives so not giving a short field will be crucial and the team that turns it over in their own territory will probably lose this game and all we will read is: "Man, you are so lucky. If we hadn't fumbled on the 23 yardline we would have kick your butte. The best team didn't win." :D

One thing a little different about the Tigers this year is that they'll keep you on you heels a little more than the past couple of years. If you concentrate too much on stopping the run they throw a pass, and they've been pretty good at. There are a lot of offensive weapons on this team....and the defense has played very well this year. Like I posted before the Wylie game....you will walk away impressed with #28 (soph), offensively and defensively, and if you let Turner get clear on the outside good luck catching him. Wylie did a good job of keeping him contained. There are several young Tigers on this team that are playmakers. I'm looking forward to this one....and I sure like the Tigers chances.

Snyder's hurry-up offense gave Wylie all kinds of trouble. Not being able to sub in and get ready in time really hurt us. Have not see the stangs play this year, but if the play like they did vs Clyde last year and without losing the ball they will be hard to beat!

im not saying snyder sucks, i just think that sweetwater has a better chance of winning this game, we have the bend but dont break mentality on pass defense so we give up alot of yards, but teams still have trouble putting it in the endzone, as far as #28 is concerned, i think that our defense will contain him

If the Mustangs don't play better than they did against Clyde I don't see them beating the Tigers. Clyde turned the ball over 5 times one of which would have been a touchdown before the half and another at the one. The Mustangs better take good care of the ball themselves because I don't see the Tigers turning it over 5 times to them.

Okay, so this thread a little more info. Sweetwater has been bit by the turn over bug.

That Snyder/Wylie score was a shock. See alot of praise from Wylie posters in regards to Snyder's defense. You know what they say...defense wins championships.

Would like to see Sweetwater return to their winning ways, but it might not be in the cards this year!

well with the way our coaches want to defend the pass we have given up more yardage, they have a bend but dont break mentality so they give up yards but still win games, and sweetwater hasnt been scoring many points because of turnovers, and as i said earlier this game WILL be decided by turnovers

To the Sweetwater posters that are coming to the game. Fair warning because I know some of you have had problems. The home side is sold out so the only tickets availible to the game will be on the visitors side so you will have to deal with the usual jerks that have plagued you in the past. Hopefully we will be expanding the stadium capacity in the future and that will alleviate this problem. Apoligize for any harassment in advance.:( :(

Since you love stupid stories so much, I will tell you why I remember that game. I got one of those Snyder T-shirts they threw in the stands...I gave it to my daughter's finace.

We couldn't decide the next week whether to watch Celina and Snyder in Abilene, or Liberty Hill and Gilmer in Waco...husband wanted to watch Liberty Hill.

You'd be surprised at how many cars I see at the Wal-Mart and
surrounding restaurants with Snyder Tiger stickers on the back
windows of cars. I guess there just aren't very many good

OK! It's only mean if you knew he was wearing the Snyder shirt and then, stopped at the Wal-Mart in Sweetwater. I would have been concerned about his safety. What if SWR was at the Wal-Mart, that would not have been good, you know how big of a bully SWR is.

No!!! I didn't even know he had the shirt on til I saw it at Walmart...he was wearing a jacket. haven't done much to improve their stadiums. While Andrews,
