At a small school... some student, who happen to be varsity football players vandalized 3 houses of fellow students with paintballs and eggs, also damaging the vehicles at the home. So, naturally the police were called, as this is a civil matter, not a school matter. Then after the police went to the school to collect statements, the AD/Head Coach corralled the student who called the police and proceeded to basically tell them to "NEVER call the police. I WILL handle it..." now here is my deal...
After my friend had told me what happened, I was not surprised that the coach would even TRY to interfere with a criminal investigation. Now here is my question... What gives the coach the right to "solve" a civil incident that doesnt involve him?

It doesn't. He did the right thing about going to the Police. Any damages to the residence and/or property must be reported because of insurance purposes. Unless the Coach was planning on paying for it?
