I thought the young Longhorn secondary did a good job against OU last week, especially with the speed they have. Missouri can be dangerous but I don't think they can keep up with Texas, and if Chase Daniel plays like he did against Oklahoma St. then Texas should have no problem. I'm sure they will have another good defensive scheme in place to take care of Mizzou.

no matter how good the offense, we have the best defensive coordinator in the game right now and i have faith he will have a great game plan, and colt on offense portrays pure conifdence to the rest of team basically saying to the other team "try and stop us"

All the homer analysts have shown NO RESPECT to Texas until they finally have to. Texas has been the sleeper team all year until they get to #1 and then analysts like Corso and Herbstreit have to say something good about Texas. What's funny though is that during the whole game up until the end they kept saying stuff like "McCoy better get his head in the game, he's playing the big boys now and cant keep running like that". Well IMO McCoy is a "BIG BOY" not only in size but in talent, confidence, and maturity. I have all the confidence in the world that Texas will show up and Give Mizzou a game like OK State did last week. Hook 'em baby.

Just from reading the first few posts on this thread, I'm getting a sinking feeling that UT moving to #1 in the polls might have been the worst thing that could have happened for our college discussions on this board. :(

I think that this will be a great game, and that whichever team wins it will be favored to win the Big XII. I think the teams are fairly evenly matched, but when you consider that Mizzou has been ranked above Texas for most of the season, I think it's understandable that some people will still look at them as the favorite.

Does anybody else notice this about Mizz,

No Defense (at all) -Illinois hung 42 on them this year
Chase Daniel is now a Senior.
Missouri hasn't beat UT or OU since Chase has been there.

This is not the game every one should worry about.

OSU will be the team to beat.

Well i still think Mizzou is a heck of a team and will put some points on the board. The thing will be can they stop our O? Probably not from what i've seen Texas is clicking on all 10 cylinders and McCoy is a stud. Mack wont overlook any team so of course their number one concern is Missouri right now and after tonight then it will be OK ST.

sinton66
10-18-2008, 12:03 PM
Tech and Okie State will both be "tests" for UT. Horns can pass both tests, but it won't be easy. Daniels and Mizzou could test them, but will have to play better than they have recently. It's not that hard to get "up" for #1 however.

Horns needed to answer the Mizzou td with one of their own to put this game back on easy street. All they need to do for the rest of the game is trade td's and they welcome Okie lite next week with a 6-0 record. McCoy looks very Heismann 2nite. Defense looks like something out of the SEC. Freshmen receivers Williams and Collins have definitely brought their A game as well. Shipley and Cosby looks lights out too. Hey, I thought the Horns were not supposed to have a running game or a defense.

Yes but it was a long bomb for a TD. Not exactley trying to run out the clock. Dont get me wrong, I liked it myself for the same reason I liked the Tech TD. I'm just betting theres a little double standard by some on here about this. Just wondering if anyone is going to step up and try to justify why this one is ok, but the Tech TD was classless.

First off I dont have a problem with TTech scoring, but you asked for someone to step up and try so here goes( all for purpose of a fun debate)

BIG difference in a starting QB scoring a rushing TD with onl 26 seconds left in a game already decided and a BACK-UP Qb who if the starter went down would have to step in throwing a bomb with over 5 mins left in the game

Also the back up QB threw it to a TRUE freshman

You got to get your second team offense some "live" action and not just running the clock out

how was that?

Missouri has not had any defense in two years - UT exploited that on TV! I watched TT & AM. TAMU dropped 7-8 every play. UT put pressure on QB. Different philosopy and different results. horns look for real. Can they win out?

Okie State will be another test! They pretty much did the same thing to Mizzou that Texas did. Texas has had trouble with Ok St in the past! But this seems to be a different team! It must be the Muschamp! Don't eat the cheese!

UT needs to bury the Mizzou ball and all the #1 hype and get back to work. Ok St. has given Texas trouble the last few years, especially the year we won the National Championship. We played behind most of the game. That team was Vince's Team and this team is the Longhorns. I believe they will come prepared for OK St. though it will be a tough test. Hook 'Em

I'm making an executive decision :nerd: the way I read the rule this game can be discussed until midnight tonight.

Remember to keep it civil.

AND you must limit your discussion to the UT/Missouri game. Discussing next week's game will get this thread closed again.

I was at the game. Texas had control all the way. The last Missouri points were against reserves. When Chiles threw the td pass I think they were just trying to get a first down with it being third and long.
These players don't get to play as much and when they do they like to do good.
Remember Chiles almost broke loose for a long one in the last few seconds and Coach Brown called him over and told him to take a knee even though UT was at about the fourteen yard line with 27 seconds.
