3 teams tied for the final 2 playoff spots? Not the last spot?

Yes
3 teams tied for the final 2 spots.

All 4-2 records, and they all beat each other , so head to head will not work.

I believe it is decided by each district committee what the tie breakers will be for their district. Point differential is most common, I think.

Yes it's possible. I drew up this scenario with our own district, but it would have to come down to points. Here's what I threw around:

China Spring - 5-0
West 3-2 with losses to China Spring and Glen Rose
Glen Rose 3-2 with losses to China Spring and Gatesville
Gatesville 3-2 with losses to China Spring and West

None of the 3 that were tied have a loss to the same 2 teams so it would have to come down to points.

currently in 32-3A we have Hidalgo(3-0) in first and 4 teams tied for 2nd at (2-1) Ray'ville, Lyford, Rio Hondo, and Zapata...

should get cleaner after tonight but if Hidalgo loses we might have a few ties for 1st place.

It can and has happened. I am just trying to understand how it is supposed to work.

It's up to the district. This isn't quite the same as your question, but I know a couple of years ago, there was a tie for 2nd place in girls' basketball in 18-3A. The two teams flipped a coin to determine seeding. I don't know if any district has that set up for football.

there is also a limit to the amount of points you can win by, keeping teams from running it up to get more power points. Week 9 we should start seeing district tie breakers showing up and what formula they use to break the ties.

The tie breakers can get really crazy and the way things are worded can be a huge issue..

The tie-break method is completely different for each and every district. It's decided by the District Executive Committee. Some use point differentials, some use only positive point differentials, some even still use coin flips.

The famous scene from the movie "Friday Night Lights" where the coaches from Permian, Midland Lee and Midland met in a diner to flip a coin to determine which two teams went to the 1988 playoffs actually happened.
