If a player is ejected from a game can they play the following week ?

Even in NCAA, unless the player is ejected for fighting, there is no subsequent suspension. That seems fair as there are many things that can lead to an ejection that probably do not warrant additional punishment I would like to see some additional punishment for fighting ejections however.

I thought he/she had to sit out the 1st half of the next game.

NCAA (but not UIL) There are provisions for suspending a player for 1st half or entire game if the ejection is for fighting.

It depends on the district. During playoffs, no, they can play the next week, although many coaches will sit them out for a while.
