DMN Story (http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/mat-mcbriar-will-miss-68-weeks.html)

Mat McBriar has fractured right foot

Todd Archer reports that P Mat McBriar suffered a fractured right foot when Arizona's Sean Morey blocked the punt in overtime. He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

We'll let you know as soon as we have some info about potential punting replacements.

UPDATE: Agent Jack Bechta said the doctor's recommendation was that McBriar be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Bechta also represents Jay Ottovegio, the rookie punter from Stanford who was in the Cowboys' training camp. Bechta said the team had contacted him about Ottovegio, but they were just putting together a list of punting candidates.

Sam Paulescu, who was in the Cowboys' camp last year and the Broncos' camp this year, is a more probable candidate.

Not good. McBriar is one of the best punters in the NFL and has been a weapon for the Cowboys. Let's hope his replacement is decent.

Funny rule, the roughing the kicker penalty. An analogy would be if you were armed and threatened with a gun by a guy, and if you shoot, miss his gun completely and only wing him---then you go to jail. If however, you shoot, hit his gun and kill him---you get off.

Too bad for McBriar. Hope he is able to return but the NFL does not seem to hold any loyalty to punters and kickers.

On the blocked punt yesterday, it was closer to an interception than a blocked put (except defender did not catch it in the air) The ball never even got to McBriars foot. Can somebody say "Block Please"!

You know, the thing is he hasn't been all that good lately. His average has been very good, but the net hasn't been all that great. Of course, much of that is out of his control. Sometimes the problem with McBriar is that he outkicks his coverage.

It wont happen
but Shane Lechler, East Bernard graduate, from Oakland would be a great replacement

Too bad he's been with a losing team
