Congrats to Giddings. I am impressed that Sealy led and almost pulled off an upset. The Buffs are loath to lose two in a row especially at home.

Giddings should be worried.

sealy got after it and played with a lot of heart. If sealy doesn't get 7 on the picked up fumble and run 60 yards with it, this would have been a different game.

Not saying that it shouldn't of happened or it was luck or anything, just saying that if for once we don't put it on the ground, and if it hadn't gone 60 for the TD, this game wasn't that close. We have got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot so much, we were driving the ball to score our second td in two tries and fumblia.

Sealy needs to keep the same intensity and get after everyone else. This district still has a lot of football to play. We all expect it to come tot he end and sealy plays bellville on holloween to finish district.

Didn't get to go to the game, but I for all you saying Giddings by 2+ touchdowns can eat your crow. Also, Sealy will make the playoffs and only loose one more district game if that.

BOTH SHOULD BE WORRIED.

NEITHER TEAM COULD TACKLE A HAM SANWICH.

OR EXECUTE ANYTHING WHEN THEY HAD TO.

1) BELLVILLE
2) LAGRANGE
3) WHO CARES...............

THIS DISTRICT IS WELL WATER WEAK EVEN FOR THE MASH POTATOE REGION 4

My thoughts on the game a more optimistic than Bocephus

Sealy came out and played a good game. I could see the spark that many preseason pollsters must have seen. They definitely have the talent, maybe need one more to hand off to. #5 Downey won't run through you, but if he gets even a little opening, he has the acceleration that is impressive to say the least. Sealy completed two long passes that helped them out, one for a TD, that should be credited to Sealy QB. He was scrambling, slipping and he threw two nice accurate passes.

Giddings defense is still very young and inexperienced but finally were showing that they could stop somebody last night. Tackling was much better and defensive line was aggressive. Buffs offense did not execute flawlessly. Masek/Plumlee both took snaps, both did some good things, both made mistakes.
Buffs shoulda/woulda/coulda made this a 2-3 TD win but The 20 ft snap in the air on the punt, fair catch kickoff drops, spotting Sealy 7 pts when you let them strip the ball and trot into the endzone, don't do anything for your confidence.

I'll give lots of credit to the Buffs for never getting down even when your mistakes take on an Elgin de ja vue form and going down to the last 1 1/2 minutes and driving it down the field for the score. Those last 30 seconds were a killer for me. Buffs showed guts, confidence and team perseverance in those last couple of minutes. Buffs need that team that emerged in the last two minutes to arrive in Bellville next week.

Eric Rimes #20 gets my game ball. He pounded 'em all night, up the middle, 3-5 yds at a time and came through with great individual effort breaking tackles for the last TD.

It was a good game last night. When Giddings scored on their second play it looked to be a repeat of last week. The Tigers did not let that bother them as they continue to gain confidence in being able to move the ball. Passing downfield and different formations had the Buffs off-guard. Going into the half, the Sealy faithful (less than 200) were surprised at the offensive production
The young defensive line, w/ a starting DT standing on the sidelines in street clothes did a good job holding the buffs to small gains. The off-tackle running was quick and effective once past the line. The offensive production in the 1st half disappeared in the second. I will give some credit to Giddings, but I think they were surprised by the conservative play calling. I think Sealy threw less than 3 times, and they all happened on the final drive. The Buffs moved the ball down the field during the final minutes. Going for short yards and using the clock. They got the job done and won the game on a classic ball control drive.

I will not discredit your bellville at#1, but to put LG ahead of these two teams will not happen. They may beat one of them for third, but they will not finish second, starting district with a loss.

sounds like you're full of knowledge, so I'll have to agree with you on this one................NOT! Probably the dumbest post I have ever read. Your number one prediction is understandable(about the only thing in the post that is) LG is not going to be number 2, sorry. No disrespect to LG by any means. and whoever at number 3, are you saying Columbus and Smithville could possibly get this spot? WOW

There was a brief blow-up during the handshake line. Most of the Sealy faithful (less than 250) were already in the parking lot when the incident happened. It was reported that several Giddings students, non-players at that were a little excited and began to use some extra push during the handshake. Several Sealy athletes took exception and pushed back. This resulted in the mid-field antics that both teams particpated in. After a brief exchange the teams were led off the field by their coaches. I did observe one Giddings player being escorted off the field and into the locker room by a coach, neither looked happy. The remaining fans were left to wonder what had just happened. Overall I thought the field support staff were very good host. I spoke with several members of the "Helmet Heads" and they were very friendly. By the way just a reminder, other than the initial run through, only the home team may play music during a district contest.

Back to the days of leather helmets, single bar facemasks, high-top black cleats and who needs a mouth piece anyway. I always thought Jack Lambert looked mean with no front teeth. I can recall when ABC sports featured a football game with no sound at all. If I remember it was in the Cosell era, no one enjoyed the game without the audio portion, kinda like looking through your neighbors window to watch the NFL package because it's too expensive to buy. As long as the PA guy does not advertise or promote, or in a recent game, describe the offensive sets. I have no problem with the whole game experience. Kinda like that dance they do at Kyle Field it's just plain fun.

Were you a Sealy player on the field???? or this just an observer from the stands. My son was a player on the field so the explanation I rec'd was slightly, okay alot, different than this post. Also, you did see a Giddings player being escorted or pulled by his facemask rather, off the field by our head coach. I also saw a Sealy coach shoving a Sealy player approx. 30 yds across the field toward the Giddings side and I would think that particular player is still getting the coach's spit out of his eyes from the chewing he was receiving. The "brawl" that most perceived to see was only two football teams and cheerleaders trying to get out of everyone's way as a couple of players from each side acted stupid. Both team's coaches and other players responded appropriately. There were no "mid field antics" by either team.

Sealy exited the field and did not play their school song, not sure if that is what you are referring to in your last sentence about the music????

Explain this last reminder about only the home team playing music....I don't understand what you are talking about.

No I am not a player, and no I was not in the stands. I was on the field, but not in the line. My response was to an earlier post asking about the brawl. I did not see a Giddings player being led by the facemask. I did see a member of the Sealy staff restraining a player who I am sure would be embarrassed by his "antics". The incident was viewed by many as unfortunate, could it have been avoided, sure. As I said the coaches had things quickly under control. For the Sealy parents it was rough since they didn't have the chance to speak with their kids until later that night or even the next day. As far as the music goes, there is a UIL? rule that states during district games only the home team may play music. I was told by the Giddings principal that he had no problem with music during the initial run through and the start of the third quarter. Another Giddings rep said they had a similiar situation during an away district contest last year. The principal was polite and the rules were observed. No problem. Just mentioned it so folks would know what to expect on the road.

So the UIL will not let the visiting band play after the game starts?
Never heard that one before, I guess after TD"s they cant play the Fight Song? Heard the mid-field hand shake-up last night. Heard some things that cant be posted? Hopefull it will all get sorted out again. No Music by the visiting Band?

I think he's referring to CD music over the speakers like during the run through or warm ups. When we played Giddings last year, our band played during the game without issue.

Reportedly the music issue was discussed at a district meeting. At that time it was agreed on that during the warm-ups and throughout the game no music from portable sound systems would be allowed. That said, the band can play whenever and as often as they please. I think the ideal was to prevent a battle of the sound systems. The run through in the 1st and 3rd quarters were not seen as a problem. I hope this clears up the music issue.
