Harris Poll has wylie at 7 and bwood at 14 right now, but we all know that's because of 3 losses to 3 very good teams.

both teams have some darned good coaches, too
i've had a gut feeling for a while that both of these teams will win their respective region I titles (per division)

11 plays on the drive that stalled for brownwood
that could come back to haunt them-but at least they have had a couple of good drives
wow-great play for wylie for the touchdown-a fake handoff and this time the lions couldn't catch the runner
that was huge for momentum-especially after wylie's last drive went nowhere

given wylie's propensity to always keep it close, and brownwood's own proven 4th quarter prowess, i'd say this one is going to have a whale of an ending

I'm listening to the game on the Brownwood feed. I guess they are trying to let Grannys at home hear the Half time show by the Brownwood band...however their Mic. seems to be near a couple of High School girls talking about who they are dateing and what they did with their hair......HOLD ON....I think that is 'Rocket' and 'Bogey' at the flag pole!!

Wow!! What a great game. That was an intense game to watch. And judging from the number of players on both teams limping or being helped off the field, it was an intense one to play in too.
These are two great teams. I'm glad I was there to see it. We won't forget this one for a while (Brownwood fans would probably like to though).

Just now made it home. What an awesome game! let me tell you Brownwood has some studs. They look like a college team taking the field.
Pachall is the real deal for sure! He will be playing on Saturdays and Sundays in the next few years. Receivers had great hands.
Havent seen any of the other Bwood games but I can tell you that Pachall was very very frustrated with the pressure he was getting and the big hits on him.
I dont think there was anymore left in any of those kids on both sides of the field. I think the difference was our defense and it was a home game.
Good luck to Brownwood the rest of the year.

Great game Wylie. Good win. Enjoyed the Meet and Greet. To me, that is what this site is all about. Talking smack, having fun, and respecting each other in the end. I enjoyed meeting all of you. All great guys.
Brownwood isn't quite there yet. Wylie did what they had to do to disrupt the passing game. I know this will be a GREAT rivalry from here on out, if Wylie stays 3A. I did like what I saw from our running game and defense. We had some big +'s to take away from the game.
Like I said before, I am Wylie's biggest cheerleader from here on out. Good luck to you guys the rest of district and let's get ready to represent 2-3A in the playoffs.

one thing i noticed about casey is that he tends to lock down on a receiver at the start of the play and loses his vision. another thing, he should not have been sacked at all tonight, he had time to take a nap back there in the pocket 98% of the night, just held on to the ball a bit too long. lastly he tends to hesitate and then try to force a few throws. he will eventually get better and fix some of these problems. he is defiantly a great qb non the less, great arm, great size frame.
wylie played a pretty good game, it seems like the big plays once again kill the lions tonight.
what is everyones thoughts on the fumble for brownwood? from what i saw, i saw him lose the ball, i called ball(bad habbit when i see a fumble )....but thought he had gotten it back, by then wylie guy jumped down(wondered why he dove for the tackled guy so late, so i figured brownwood didnt recover)..... seemed like alot of bwoods fans were upset by this call and im wondering if me and stownhorse were the only ones to see it pop out.
great way to open up district play, good luck to both teams.

I think if you get a chance to watch the game film you will see that our corners and safeties were doing some interesting rotations.
Most of the time the receivers were open in the middle on zone coverage but we would rotate the corners and safeties around like we were daring Casey to throw in a particular direction. I thought Casey made great decisions most of the night on which receiver to hit.
I agree about him holding the ball a long time but I credit our secondary for that. I am sure Bwood believed that they could handle our front 3 for as long as they needed. I think the delayed blitzes confused Casey. You could see the frustration on quite a few of the sacks. If you remember also he threw at least 8 passes so far out of bounds the bus drivers were the only ones to catch them. Once again it was great decision on his part becasue our secondary was taking away his passing lanes.
What an arm though. The 60+ pass into the wind on the first drive WOW! Then he would make the 30 yard pass to the flat look like laser beams. He is the real deal. I think he would do alot better if you mixed in some 3 step drop timing patterns. With those 8' receivers they are going to catch it every time.

Congrats to the Bulldogs. The 4th quarter belonged to Wylie and did us in. It was a great game and both teams fought their tails off  .
Yes, our Defense gave up 31 but I, for one, am so proud of the way those kids played out there! Really stepped it up and worked hard.
Ofensively we did have our moments, but we weren't klicking the way we have been. Not taking anything away from the effort at all (409 yards total offense) but we weren't as crisp as usual, IMO. Gonna give Wylie props for some of that. Yawl damn sure got some good athletes out there. Liked seeing our run game get what it did. Think it's starting to look up and that's really gonna be a plus for our offense as a whole.
Just as those of us (that actually have a clue) predicted, it was a war out there. Hard hitting, physical ball game....and hopefully the injuries on both sides are not serious. Dag gum, nuttin but respect for all those kids out there. That's what Friday nights are all about in Texas, and it's a pleasure getting to watch that kinda game.
Good luck to the Bulldogs the rest of the way. Gonna be hard to stop 'em on their march to that D1 title.
As for Brownwood, we're gonna be just fine :D . 4 more to go before playoffs (yeah....I believe we'll be in there making a little noise ;) ) and one thing I gotta say......Gawd, I would not wanna be Breckenridge next week :evillol: . Not gonna be pretty.
Was great meeting all of you at the M&G! Good fellers & class acts. Enjoyed talking to ya guys. And "Daddy-D", hope you got a phone number or sumthin ;) :D .
Lastly, just FYI.......I chunked my "OWNERSHIP" card in the trash on the way out. Congrats!

Well said, Rocket_Dawg. Now that's funny! Like Rocket_Dawg always says "We are like Wylie's little brother... Wylie owns us in games that really matter." ;) Sorry Rocket--Had to get a little dig in there at you for all the smack talk leading up to this one...
Few observations on the game. First--why does Brownwood not play any of their 'athletes' (you know, the big/tall/fast guys) on defense? The offfense walks out and looks like a small college team--the defense looks like a medium size 2A squad. Don't get me wrong--they were quick and played their hearts out, but Wylie's O-line started to really wear them out in the later part of the game. Secondly--I thought Wylie's defensive game plan was spot on... don't let Pachal run wild like last year, limit the monster pass plays and make them throw the short/intermediate routes--you know Pachal is going to get his in the passing game, just don't let them go crazy--272 yards passing for him is a good defensive effort for us. Third, We (Wylie) have to get our passing game cranked up! It never clicked last night--it is nice to be able to fall back on the running game but...
Overall the game was hard fought, both teams left it all on the field--I wish the Brownwood Lions the best of luck in district play and the playoffs!

It was another one of those great games. I thought Brownwood had a chance to take complete charge of the game late in the 3rd by going up 14 but we threw a deep interception with a big return instead. Then Wylie did what good teams do and controlled the entire 4th and won the game.
What a great rivalery these two team have a chance to become. Like the old days when we played cooper to start every season. Always looked forward to that game. Also remember as a kid the line of car lights as far as you could see both in front of you and behind you for the drive home. Last night on the way home was as close as I have seen to that in many many years.
Good luck to both Wylie and Brownwood for the remainer of 08

Cant believe I almost forgot to say this. After the game last night when the Brownwood players and cheerleaders go in front of the band and sing the school song (we do it win or loose) every single Wylie player stopped their celebrating and turned and faced the Brownwood band quietly showing the most class and respect that I have seen from any opposing team. I did not think it was necessary for them to do this, they have their own things going on, but I was very very impressed.
Again... First Class all the way and very impressive!

I can tell you that I was upset also! I was not 15 feet away from the tackle and if the ball did come loose, where was the bean bag, signaling a fumble, from any of the refs? Why was the linejudge getting a new ball from the ball boy when the white hat casually strolled over and looked at the Wylie player and Pachall both with the ball, then signaled TO and gave the ball to Wylie. Plus, the whistle had already blown by the linejudge! That was a huge call and a major turning point in the game. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying for sure the ball did not come loose, but officials have a job to do and it appears that they failed to do their job on that play!
As for the game as a whole, it was a fantastic game with a playoff atmosphere! Anyone that actually thought that this game would be a blow out, either way, needs to get a reality check! Also, it just goes to show that you cannot beat a good team when you have turnovers! This game featured 2 very good teams that left it all on the field! Congrats to both teams on a great game and Good Luck to Wylie from here on out!
I am sorry that I did not make it to the M&G, but at the half, my son and his wife brought my grandson down to see me and I spent the half time playing with him on the track! Maybe next time!
