With the economic situation and escallating ticket prices---can the average American still afford to attend big sporting events?

No, if you go only on what the article is talking about which is getting seats to the super bowl, sold out fenway and BCS championships ect.

But I as a poor college student I can go to a Mavericks game, even though every game is sold out and spend less than $30 and that includes ticket, parking and food.
