Not sure what game you were listening to, but I never got the impression that Burnet's D choked at the end of the game. It very well could have gone the other way right down to the end.

I felt going into this game that the one thing Burnet had in their favor was that Liberty Hill would take them for granted, hopefully like they did in 05. I'm totally proud of the game the Bulldogs played tonight. It may not have been a win on the score board, but sometimes your victory comes in other forms.

Congratulations the Bulldogs and to Coach Walker and staff for going head to head with the number one ranked 3a team in Texas, right down to the very end! :D

WOW, the most exciting game I have seen in several years.
Burnet played a great game. They had a great game plan.

The Bulldogs did something to start the game I have never seen. They never warmed up pre game and never emerged from the locker room until a mere minutes before kickoff. So Bulldogs was not at the field until a few minutes before kickoff.

Then 3 onside kicks in the first half against the Panthers.

The Bulldog defense did a great job plugging the running lanes. Best a team has ever done this against the Panthers. LH has to scratch and claw for everything in this one.

AWSOME GAME by QB Braden Fickel who played the best game of his life. He was clutch tonight. The Panthers started the game with a pass and ended it with a pass. The last one was tipped twice by the defender and into the hands of Josh Woodbury for the TD with 3 seconds left.

When Burnet got the conversion i said , dang it the streak ended at 29 by 29 points. The man next to me was so mad he and his family left......

Then I said no miracles do happen and my oldest son actually prayed (sure he wasnt alone).......

The gift from God arrived in the form of a two tip catch in the corner of the endzone.......what a game........ Im not faint hearted but I YELLED so loud that I saw stars......

Congrats to Burnet, didnt give up when behind 3 touchdowns in the fist quarter........kept it alive down to lights out.....

Burnet always shows up to play LH and they know how to do so.

LH gotta work on that pass D and allowing teams back in it after going up 2-3 TDs. Last year the first half was trouble until around the middle of district play, this year its the let up.......Wimberley will be tough in their house no matter what the records or rankings are........I hope LH will be ready.......

Emotionally, I wanted to see someone take LH down -- but from the standpoint of the rest of the 8-3A playoff hopefuls, it was probably better that the Panthers pulled it out. Right now there are probably two playoff spots up for grabs in the district, and had Burnet won this game, one of those two is more likely to be claimed.

Bottom line is that to really be a powerhouse, talent isn't always enough. The teams which wind up at the top of the heap, year in and year out, just find ways to win.

My point was just that I think LH is in, period, even if they lost last night. I think if LH lost last night, then Burnet would have the inside track to one of the two remaining playoff positions (in addition to LH). Thus the other teams competing for playoff spots are more likely to be going after only one remaining playoff spot instead of two.

At least it made sense at the time when I tried to rationalize it...
