i wouldnt think so either after everything he has accomplished there but this came from some Calallen residents and the 1st thing i said was after all he has done for them and he has a slow start and they are ready to get rid of him, now if T-M beats them that would be bad

He'll leave/retire when he's ready, but he may be ready after this season. Calallen didnt win too much before he showed up.
Didn't realize they had fewer than 1300 in school until a few weeks ago.

I think it's pretty dumb if they actually wanna get rid of him, he has done so much for the program he has kept Calallen a power house for years. Not every great team must stay on top forever. Teams tend to fall and once that happens they will rise again.

GO WILDCATS!!!

Heaven forbid that the folks admit that the talent level isnt what its been in the past instead of blaming the coach

SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT JOB FOR COACH MITCHELL AT SEALY, A WINNER IN SINTON, BROUGHT THE SEALY PROGRAM BACK TO LIFE. HE WOULD DO THE SAME FOR A CALALLEN AND MAKE THEM A POWERHOUSE IN 4A. IF THE RUMOR IS TRUE, JIMMY MITCHELL IS THE PERFECT COACH FOR THE JOB.

The talent is there. They just decided to play other sports instead of football. I know several parents whose kids don't want to play football for him. The talent is there.

I think it will take more than one bad season for them to fire him. He has done nothing but good things for their program.

what are they thinking....after all these years do they actually believe he's a bad coach and doesn't know what he' doing?

Give the guy and his staff a break...without Danaher and his coaches...they would still be getting it handed to them by g-p and this wouldn't have been their first loss to alice....and those people would be looking forward to the day the could dominate t-m.

Danaher is a legend.

Pilot point actually did this a decade ago, releasing a coach with an .800 winning percentage (jerry jones in 2000, protege of GA moore) because they hadn't gone more than two rounds in the playoffs since 1994. While they made a run the next year with a new coach (Eddie Baca) and the coach's former 5A QB son in the very weak d1 r2 playoffs, the bearcats haven't been a factor since, and their 20+ year playoff streak ended with 2 missed playoffs in the last few years. As a side note, their 8-7 loss to Sanger should serve notice that they are not yet elite in 2A (Sanger doesn't win when PP is really good--not that Sanger isn't a decent team, but they will be 2-3 in 9-3A)

that was a roundabout example, but i don't believe that Calallen is that stupid

i would be amazed if there is ever a 300 game winner ever fired for anything that doesn't involve sex with students

CC Calallen holds a state record for consecutive 10-win seasons (17)

they have won almost double digit region titles

you are exactly right-this coach is historically good

Danaher is or was the fourth all-time winningest coach in Texas HS football. To force him out would be sheer lunacy.

I have pretty good sources close to and within the program and this is the first I've heard of it.

What you have here, according to these sources, are a group of players whose parents think they know more about football than Danaher and have brainwashed some of the other kids and parents into believing the same thing. I'm sure this happens every year, but with the rough start, what's usually a little fire has become the towering inferno.

Also true is that the talent level isn't what it was a few years back. In those years we could make mistakes and still win, but not with this group. We have to really be on point to succeed.

The thing is, in some circles in the community, Danaher has never been well liked, but he was winning tons of games so he was untouchable. This is really the first time these people have any valid ammo against him. But seriously...he built a program from nothing that has been winning for 25 straight years. That's damn impressive. And it's not like he's got 6-8 DI atheletes every year. Heck if we have one that's a big story.

These folks just need to chill out, because if we turn it around and wind up 3-4 rounds deep in the playoffs again they're gonna look awfully stupid. Besides, Danaher has more than earned the right to go out on his own terms.

No kidding... Of course, we do have people in the world (and often our own communities) that have mental illness with no treatment and have influence. Hopefully for everyone involved that this isn't how Coach Danaher leaves his post.
