I saw this on the Fort Worth Star Telegram site. Does anyone know if this is true. I don't know what Paschal has but good lord this is ridiculous!

It is correct. I laughed today as I was reading the article and Steve Warren said they were worried about Paschal's style of offense. Abilene won't be challenged until the playoffs.

They need to inflict the 6 man mercy rule in this one.

Are you sure it's not Celina that's playing? They normally run up the score!

I think this was one of those match-ups where the game was nowhere near as close as the score indicates.

Congrats to Abilene I dont know if I would even kick a field goal if I was losing 81-0 already. I guess its a moral victory.

Caldwell led Smithville 56-0 at the half in 2004 en route to 70-0 win. That's how far the Tigers have come!

If I'm not mistakened this game was just scheduled a while
back. Abilene was supposed to play a CA school. That school
dropped out because they couldn't get sponsorship to make the
trip down here.

Hats off to FW Pachall for stepping up to the plate.

what team it was.

I believe Cooper and Abilene High both had teams from out of state scheduled, but I don't remember the specifics.

Are you sure, Emerson? That would be a sad reflection on the coaches if the other kids didnt get to play the 2nd half...or at least the 4th quarter.

Abilene scored 3 touchdowns in a 39 second time span in the first quarter. It was over before it started.

I believe that Abilene High and Cooper both had games scheduled with CA teams. A friend coaches at Cooper and said they had to drop the game because they were going to have to pick up the travel tab. It was going to be some big number, between $25-50,000 and Abilene ISD said no way.
They said they needed the $$$ to hire more administrators:devil:

But didn't a DFW school offer to play Abilene that week or was it
just another open week for them?

Sad part about the Abilene High game is that the starting center for AHS was the victim of a "cheap shot" and broke his ankle/leg in 2 places. Most all other starters had been pulled.

I'm not sure about AH. I don't think they had a second open week. I think Cooper played Dunbar, but I'm not sure.
