34 La Grange
06 Hampshire Fannett, Half

La Grange scored on approx. 40 yard hail mary to end the 2nd q. I was expecting a closer game but the Longhorns don't have a clue for the Leopards' passing game.

okay, thanks.

i'm sure the kids/coaches/community are glad to be playing again, sure a win would have been nice, but at least they are playing again.

Correct. Im not sure if it was a due to the layoff and/or players hurt, but HF really looked out of sink....On the other hand, La Grange was clicking on a cylinders. IMO La Grange needs to find a running game if they want that district 25 title. But, as I stated last season in the finale versus Navasota, I look what I say offensively from La Grange. D25 will have a wild finish.

HF wasn't prepared for the LG spread offense or the on-side kicks that the Leps did on several occasions. LG struck on the 2nd play of the game when their QB hit #4 on a 65 yd TD pass. On the very next play, LG caught HF napping and was successful with an on-side kick. Both of the LG QB's threw the ball very well and I was very mpressed with receivers Bunch & Wilkerson. The Leps have a very good passing game and Bellville better come prepared next friday night. Both Bunch & Wilkerson go 6'2"to 6'3" with very good hands. Even when HF had good coverage, those guys had the ability to come up with the ball. HF did have some success running the ball, but overall lacked any kind of execution on either side of the ball. They looked like a team that hadn't practice much or had the time to prepare.

LG ended up with 421 total yards, but only rushed for 59 yds on 38 attempts. They did complete 67% of their passes for 362 yards. HF averaged almost 5 yds a carry running the ball, but was only 4-14 passing. IMO, the run defense may be more of a concern for the Leps. HF lost 4 fumbles on the night.

Like Hemotoxic said the HF defense could not stop the passing game of the Leps. The receivers did an outstanding job in getting open and in bringing down the passes. The Leps had the game put out of reach on the final play of the half scoring on a beautiful 45 yard pass to Wilkerson who brought in in between two Longhorn defenders in the endzone. The coaches called off the dogs midway through the third quarter allowing the second and third teams to play. They stopped passing and just ran the football to run down the clock.

The Longhorn O line was huge and very physical. I doubt that the Leps will confront a bigger or tougher O line in district. The defense held when necessary allowing just two tds, the second coming after a short field due to a silly unsportsmanlike penalty after an extra point.

The Lep passing offense will be hard to stop and they will be going into next week's game at home against Bellville very confident. Go Leps!
