The hook and lateral.

When the reciever makes the reception he gets credit for
a reception and the recieving yards. When he hands it off to
another player and that players runs say 50 yards more, Are those
considered recieving yards and does he get credit for them?

When the Colts did that against Minnesota a couple of weeks ago, the box score showed the second player getting credit for rushing yardage since he didn't actually make a reception.

That makes sense. If they did credit him with recieving yardage,
they would have to give the QB fifty yards passing too...I guess.

I've asked about this and I've been told stat guys recorded all the yardage to the second guy.

The first guy gets a catch, but no yardage. The second guy gets all of the yardage like he caught it from the line of scrimmage. Weird, I know.

On a side note another crazy one is the option. If a QB runs 98 yards to the 1-yard line, then options off to the RB, the RB gets credit for all 99 yards instead of just 1. Weird stuff.
