First big test for the Tigers. Although the Tigers being from D25 and a sentimental favorite, Yoakum is improving and always tough at home. I'll take Yoakum at home by a td.

I think if smithville pulls this one out on the road, we can offically call them REAL.

Just looking at the schedule and the teams that I'm familiar with, I think Marion's 4-0 could be a little deceiving.

I'm taking Smithville - Tigers look to be on a roll!

It might be deceiving, but 4-0 is 4-0.
Smithville's schedule is a bit weak also.

I still have smithville, just because their wins have been convincing.

like a previous post replied all of smithville wins have been lopsided and convencing, the scary thing is we dont know how good this team realy is and what they can do, bc/ there opponets are not world beaters but have beaten every team that has been put infront of them so far and are working all the kinks out an no doubt they are clicking on all cylinders. The biggest problem smithville has been having over the years has not been not having athlets but believing they can win and the confdince to win , this team is not going to fade away come district in my opinion last game of the season against bellville will have major major playoff implications on there postseason action

Smithville comes off their bye week 4-0 and averaging 35 points a game. Yoakum will be coming into this one 2-2 fresh off of a 35-21 win over Marion. The records can be a little misleading. Yoakum has had a pretty tough schedule early on. This ought to be a good matchup. Who wins? Why? Thoughts?

Smithville was in our district last year. They have big, strong, fast athletes with enough edginess that we all knew would be dangerous if it all began clicking. The coaches have found what works and it's clicking well.

Smithville by 12

IMO Smithville should win this one. Yoakum could try to make a game of it, but Smithville is my pick.

Yep. I said last year that they seemed to have some depth problems. They had a big O Line and a very fast, elusive back, but many of their players went both ways (in football). If they have that problem fixed, that will go a long way in district.

Smithville & Sandra Bullock.......they're both looking good!

Smithville goes 5-0. :)

Yes, Smithville is 4-0 and Yoakum is only a 2-2 team, but it seems that the overall thinking on this thread because of their records, Yoakum doesn't have a chance. Marion supporters thought the same thing last week with their 4-0 record going into the game with the Dogs. Also looking at the caliber of teams both Marion and Smithville have played their are many similarities. The combined W-L record for Smithville opponents is 4-12. The W-L record for Yoakum opponents is 13-4. Sometimes this is not indicative of the caliber of teams you have played, but in this instance it would hold up. The score (35-21) vs Marion shows the game to be much closer than it was. Yoakum fumbled the ball at the 3 yd line on 1st and goal and had 3 INTs and 2 other fumbles.
The game should have been a blow out for Yoakum, but they are still making crucial turnovers. One other thing, Marion opponents records going into the game friday night with their 4-0 record was 4-12. I think Yoakum could break Smithville's bubble Friday. Yoakum can put points on the board, even with turnovers, against "almost" any team.
Yoakum 38
Smithville 31

Attention all!...I have the power to control the outcome of this game in my hands!

I'd say the Dawgs take this one, being that it's Yoakum's homecoming and all. Too bad I have to miss it for my cousin's wedding! I'll be pulling for my students Friday night, even though I'll only be there in spirit!

http://www.statesman.com/sports/stats/football/controller?Page=school_details&AltAction=&Nav=teamstats&Sport=1&Season=7&School=212165&Player=&Schedule=

few stats from the year, i noticed they have 1264 rushing yards in 4 games, thats 316 yards a game, i dont care who you play thats a monster stat, and avg 36 pts a game and giving up avg 11 pts, thats a very wide margin, that tells me they have showed up for 4 stright weeks and taken care of buissness, and no need to belive this wont continue, smithville rolls by 10, yoakum will be no easy test wil fight till the end no doubt

Smithville showed district 24 last year that they were close to arriving by playing some good teams close. The athletic ability of the team was never in question. They play hard and have the size and speed to cause problems for any team. AND NEVER DISCOUNT how powerful momentum is. This program has been down for awhile and this year the 4-0 start has everyone in the area believing they are for real. That confidence is contagious to the team and they play like they can beat anybody on any given night. I think they will play harder to try and spoil Yoakum's homecoming. I take Smithville by 10.

Yoakum will have their hands full, it's not that Smithville is unbeatable, but they are playing with a lot of confidence. Both teams match-up pretty well. Neither have a great deal of depth and both have decent skill players. I think Smithville comes out with the W but playing in Yoakum anything is possible.

Where are these teams from? JK

This ought to be a pretty interesting game. I have to say I haven't bought into the hype 100% yet, so I have yoakum in this one, if not smithville has pulled off their first upset of the year. I am not saying that a win here by smithville puts them in the upper half of the 5-0 teams, but it would definetly move them up the undefeated rankings more than the last 4.

I voted for Smithville. I like the way the program has turned around the past few years and it seems that this year's team has an excellent winning attitude and the wins have been a huge confidence builder.

If Yoakum wins this game look for them to take the runner-up spot in district. Yoakum seems to be a team that is getting a better grasp each week of the new coach's schemes and terminology.

I'd have to say either way. Yoakum likes to turn the ball over too much to say they are going to win.

Mark it down right now Yoakum will win by at least two touchdowns tonight. The whole comment on them turning over the ball is true but let me tell you they are playing pretty solid right now and if they keep it going they have a shot at shocking a lot of people the rest of the way. They are wearing people out in the 4th quarter. So Smithville although 4-0 and having played like a combined win record of like 4 and 13 is impressive, think about this Yoakum would be 4-0 as well if they would have just limited the turnovers in the first two games of the year.
