A Darkhorse or a Cinderella can be chosen from any ranking, or at random---that was the purpose of the thread---Who do YOU think would fall into these 2 categories. I chose the 3ADL Top 25 as only a starting point since this is the 3ADL board. Please note the last words of my post, "Others?".

Lol. I didn't even notice that. It reminds of the poster I saw who ranked Hutto in the top 25 ... but I didn't want to say anything because I forgot Gilmer lost their last game when I made my rankings :doh:

This was never intended to be a ranking discussion thread. There are numerous threads posted dealing with current rankings. I took the 3ADL Top 25 list of 09/16 from the 3ADL Homepage--State Top 20 section, again, to be used as a starting point for possible selection of Darkhorses and Cinderella teams. It doesn't even have to be used for reference---use any source you want---any date-- or just make one up.

Does a darkhorse or cinderella have to go on and win state. For example if an unranked team got hot and made it to the semis, would they be a cinderella or darkhorse?

And that was part of the hold up this week - getting a revised top 25 since they were there again. And I'm being pissy and not counting it.

I think my Vandals qualify as they are not in the top 25 & received no votes.

They are 4-0 giving up only 145 ypg and scoring 32.5 ppg. They have played 2A Grand Saline, 3A Rusk, 3A Palestine & 4A Mabank. We play 3A Longview Spring Hill tonight. If we can get a win there I see Canton as the only other team on our schedule that could give us trouble before the playoffs.

In 2006, Vernon entered the last game of the season with a record of 4-5, needed not only a win to make the playoffs, but also needed another team to win. Both of those things happened and Vernon entered the playoffs with a 5-5 record and ranked 53rd in the state. They got hot at the right time and won 4 straight playoff games to take the Region 1 championship before losing by 17 to Celina in the semis. Would they be more of a darkhorse, a cinderella, or neither. I'm not sure I know the difference between the two.
