A defensive battle royal took place tonight at Silsbee. If you like the Score system-it was one and one......Neither team was able to move the ball freely. Silsbee kept throwing the "hail Mary" type pass- some were intercepted most were batted down. Finally they completed one deep in BC territory and scored. Bridge City had one long sustained drive, aided by Silsbee infractions- and scored. Silsbee was a very dirty playing team. In fact, I would say that they would make the Cleveland team from the last two seasons, look like a bunch of choir boys! The bright spot for BC happened twice. Once Silsbee complete another "hail Mary" pass after many attempts and had a first down inside the 5. Bridge City tackled them for loses on FOUR consecutive downs. Another time the snap went way over the BC QB's head, in the shotgun, setting up Silsbee again inside the BC 15 yard line. Again, the BC defense tackled Silsbee for 4 consecutive loses, setting Silsbee way back from the goal line. Silsbee has a tremendous defensive player #9 that BC seemed to not be able to block, all to many times. Like I said, it was a defensive struggle for both teams with no particularly polished Offense for either team.
