Ben Roth was flagged for a safety and an intentional grounding on the same play, even though the pass was batted down after it came out of his hand by the other team. How is that even possible? Did anyone see this? I dont understand the rule. I think we need VAMike.

because he was trying to avoid the 10th sack by the Eagles and problaly was still in the pocket and no nearby receivers.

Maybe, but the pass was batted down by a linemen. I think he was outside the pocket. I didnt watch the game, just the highlights.

There was a tightend and running back less than 7 yards away and it was batted by a defensive lineman. However replay showed that he was already down and a challenge would have ruled a safety in any case.

I the the refs just missed that it was batted by the linemen.

true but none of that matters because his knee was on the ground before he even tried to throw it anyways...

intentional grounding in the endzone is an automatic safety...

Well if he was actually already down in the end zone it is still a safety. Much ado about nothing.

Correct, but get the call right. It cannot be intentional grounding if it is batted by a linemen.
