The Apaches had no answer to the wide open Lep offense which put up over 600 yards total offense. The Leps had one turnover, a fumble into the end zone from the one after a long reception. Otherwise the played almost a perfect game. The Lep D was very aggressive shutting down the Apaches spread offense. This is one of the finest Lep teams in several years, right up there with the 2000-2001 teams IMO. Most of these kids are sophs and juniors so look out the Leps will be ranked for some time to come. Next week they travel to Goliad.

Number 8 McHazelett was a big factor in tonight's win. Coming off a 6 week lay up for a strained acl he made several long runs after receptions and looks to be a big weapon on the Lep offensive. The Leps are loaded with receivers this year. It will be tough to defend them.

Congratulations La Grange! D25 is shaping up to be a very strong district.

The Lep offense remains a two headed monster with alternate series at qb of junior Josh Schneider and lefty senior Luke Henderson. So far I see no good reason to change things as it obviously is working. The Leps have racked up over 1500 yards total offense in three games so far this season. It must give defensive coordinators fits to try and adjust to this fluid offense with two equally talented qbs (with one a lefty to boot). Another factor that works for the Leps this season is the speed of their wide receivers and running backs. The Leps arguably have the best receiver corp in 3A now which opens up big opportunities in the running game. Finally, the core of the offense remains the O line. They have evolved into a cohesive unit giving the qbs plenty of protection and time to tick off their receivers.

They both were very effective moving the ball.

I would like to see the stats for this game if any Lep fan has them. They must have had well over 600 yards total offense with 500 or more through the air.

I do not know the stats but I am sure LG had two maybe three receivers go over the century mark. Watching them play is pretty exciting. Some teams who run the spread do not utilize all the receivers or balance the pass and run. LG can hurt you with all 4 receivers, if you overload one side the other side will kill you. If you blitz the long ball or screens will eat you up, and if you decide to drop people and cover the pass, their running backs and QB have been very effective rushing. I think the coaches have done a great job game planning and actually taking what the defense has giving them. In the end though if you do not have the kids to run the spread it can be ugly, right now it appears that LG has the personnel to get it done. Will it be enough to make the playoffs? In most districts yes, in 25-3A it might not. I think GOnzalez and Yoakum will make the playoffs way behind Cuero winning district, but in 25-3A there are three teams that will not make the playoffs that are good enough to get in in most other districts. We will see week one of district when LG faces a tough Bellville team.

Laugh it up folks. Fact is the Leps have the best passing game in 3A right now and that's a fact.
