Liberty Hill over Brownwood

Gordon Wood and Kirby Freeman may not be forgotten, but they are not here anymore. The Lions will be spending most of the night trying to figure out which Liberty Hill back has the football.

LH 28 BW 10

Celina over Arlington Heights

4A schmore A. Celina has not lost 2 games in a row in 24 years, and this is Arlington Heights not Lamar.

Celina 35 AH 14

Kilgore over Gilmer

Everyone knows I love Gilmer and their high power offense, but Kilgore has a D and more speed than Gilmer has seen in five years. They will keep it respectable for the first half, fall behind by two TD's in the third quarter and make a brilliant comback only to fall short in the end.

Kilgore 28 Gilmer 24

 I'm lovin' it----keep it coming every week--- and I agree with you on 2 out of 3. I think Gilmer can match Kilgore's speed and win by 7.

Yeah I think the LH / Brownwood game will be a high scoring game on both sides.

Celina lost two games in a row to start the 97 season! Celina also lost its last game of 96!

You'd think a King would know that.

1996-
Italy 17, Celina 0 (Area playoff)

1997-
Denton (now Argyle) Liberty Christian 21, Celina 7
Sanger 35, Celina 34 (2OT--although i could swear i remembered a third OT)

The Sanger game was rowdy

After the 96 loss (after the 95 title) and then the week 0 loss to LC, Celina seemed to mentally straighten out in the Sanger game

11 games later, the Bobcats finished 11-3 with a close loss in the Italy rematch. The young core of that team would form the base of the dominating teams of the streak. After the Italy loss, they would lose only two more times (in the regular season in 1998) before the streak began. My favorite game in this span was the 1998 three-match with Italy, a 17-10 Bobcat victory (Celina would shut out four of the other five post-season opponents)

good times

96 and 97 were different kids and different seasons. And as for the first two games in 97...in the words of an LSU Head Coach "..overtime losses don't count the same as regulation losses.":D

And I stand by my predictions.

I think that this game is close and Brownwood wins. I do not think Liberty Hill is what they were last year. I just don't see the WOOD losing 3 in a row. Call me crazy or call me...........

Sometimes you have to hit bottom before you climb back up. Rockdale isn't Brownwood, but they started off winless last year before rolling in district and taking state-runner up China Spring to the wire in Bi-District. I think this is one of those times for Brownwood. Good luck, but don't go into LH expecting them to not be "what they were."

I thought it was '98 when Sanger and Celina played the 2OT game. Wasn't that the year the UIL got rid of ties?

95 is when the UIL began overtime games. I remember in Lampasas we had our first OT game against Cameron that year at home and we lost.

Hey, when it comes from the King, you're stuck with it. (Unless he picks Celina's 10-1 defense to stuff the slot-t.):D I think he's a believer now....
