Hebbronville(2-0) is led by RB Joseph Maldonaldo. Maldonaldo is coming off a 374 yards on 13 carries with 4 tds performance against Falfurrias. He rushed for 184 yards against Lyford in their first game. In two games he has 556 yards on 35 carries for a 15.9 yards per carry and 4 TDs.
Longhorns have wins over Lyford 33-13 and Falfurrias 54-21. Longhorns come in averaging 550 yards per game on offense and averaging 43.5 points per game. Defensively they are giving up 245 yards per game and 17 points.

This is Sinton's homecoming game against a formidable foe. Hebbronville is always dangerous and has had some good playoff teams. We have played them four times. In the playoffs in 1986 we were trailing 7 - 0 with about 2 minutes to play. Hebbronville had a great defense but our OB Tommy Green broke for a long td run. We had to go for two points because the led in the tie breaking statistics (no overtime then) but their defense swarmed and held and we lost 7 to 6. The next year in the playoffs we tied them 7 - 7 but they advanced on penetrations. We scored in the third quarter and kicked the extra point because there was pleanty of time left in the game but we couldn't score again.
We meant them twice during the regular season in 1998 and 1999 winning both games 55 to 6 and 55 to 7.

Hebbronville has started out good this year and the Pirates are rusty having a bye week and Corpus Christi Moody cancelling the game last week. Plus Hebbronville loves to spoil other teams' homecoming games. They are also the Longhorns like the University of Texas. That increases the risk.

Tell Sinton`s lineman to watch out for cut blocks as Hebronville likes to use them a lot. Their RB is quick and they can play great any night. Could be a trap game if Sinton boy`s aren`t prepared. Good Luck , hope they stay healthy.

Don't sleep to much on hebbron, Maldonado is pretty freakin fast a few decent blocks and a slight crease, and he has a chance to take it all the way... He has to be one of the fastest players I've seen...

Their D is suspect at best, so if Sinton can control the ball and slow down maldonado is sinton's game.

Hebbronville had way too much success running to the outside. Their RBs are quick. Defense came up big when they had to but this game could have easily gone the other way. Offensively I was impressed with how well Sinton runs the ball, but I didn't get to see too much passing. Harrison looked like the better throwing QB and Cave was a much better runner. How many times did the Pirates get flagged for false start or delay of game??? Coaches got to get the play out faster and the QB needs to get the team to line and get the play off. They were bad in that department. Glad to see the Pirates come off with the win.

But Sinton did have the ball for most of the 2nd half with those time consuming drives. Sinton rushed for 372 yards. From Caller times:Quarterback Carson Cave, who splits time with Josh Harrison, led Sinton with six carries for 81 yards.

Richard Orta finished with 10 carries for 74 yards, while fellow running back Roy Perez added 66 yards on eight attempts.

Ram Sanchez rushed for 44 yards, followed by Harrison with 35 and Shane Segovia with 36. Ryan Cantu and Matt Gaitan combined to rush for 21 yards.

I was impressed with Sinton's offense last night too. They look to have it going fairly well. If they can stop all the silly penalties, they will do okay. The defense stiffened in the second half and seemed to come around a bit also. Definitely made the stops when they had to. Good TEAM effort, and that's what it's all about in this game.

Still think they need to find a way to speed up the offensive play calling. Takes to long for the play to get in and the players to get set before the delay of game penalties are called. The illegal procedure penalties are also a problem. If they can cut down on these mistakes they will be alright. District starts next week, so lets fix the problem and take back your Disrict Championship PIRATES!!!!
