Is the tight end an integral part of your team's offense? It seems with the popularity of the spread and 4 and 5 receiver sets that the tight end is a thing of the past!

No and it never will be. We put a WR (granted he's built like a TE) at TE ever so often if we want an extra blocker, but that's about it.

even in a spread style offense the use of a TE can be a burden to a lot of defenses.

In Cuero's offense, the TE is a very big part of the game. He usually get 4 or 5 passes or more a game.

I honestly expected to open this thread and see kepdawg asking, "What do the moderators wish for when they blow out the candles on their birthday cakes?"

Even in the spread, Brownwood throws to tight end alot. He is very good and lines up at a bunch of other places but tight end mostly.

If you are in Liberty Hill on Friday you will see a very good tight end in purple.

In the Pros the TE is the go to guy in a pinch. Witten for example. The spread is only effective in hs and college. By the time you get to the Sunday afternoon players too much speed on the D and killer D lineman make the spread ineffective. The TE is one of the biggest weapons in football.

FYI, the spread formation isn't the spread if it employs a TE. By definition, spread means no TE. We run from the shotgun with one back probably 80% of the time, but we don't have a spread formation anywhere in the playbook.

We base out of the spread. Dont mean we run every play out of it. However, you can make it look almost identical to the defense. Alot of the time, the tight end will wind up flexed.

TE seam, delay, drag, all great plays and seldom go for less that 10 yards.

I dont know if he gets that many maybe one or two. he just happens to score when he catches them. I think Hoffman has 3 receptions and two TD's.

The TE is a very valuable weapon. Great to use on play action.

What is this "tight end" that you speak of?

Why change what isn't broke?

Actually, against L-E last year, Gilmer kinda switched up their offense. They were lining up with 2 RB's and a TE with sometimes just 1 or 2 recievers.

Just think an extra blocker that you can send late into the flats/over the middle if nothing downfield is open! scary!
