This was the last word out of Bellville, that 5a Katy Morton Ranch would play Bellville @ Katy Friday night. Bellville 2-0 and Morton Ranch 2-0. This will be Homecoming for Katy Morton Ranch. This will aslo be a good test for a 3a vs a 5a. This was 90% sure it would happen. This is not 100% set in stone, just waiting for the Katy Superintendent to OK this with the Morton Ranch AD.

Still it is pretty guttsy for Bellville AD to play a 5a. Lets see if this one pans out.

Is this really going to happen? Maybe we can play a 5A in week 5? Or not, really doesn't matter. I don't have any delusions about the Rattlers being able to beat any 5A teams, just like I expect Brahma fans don't have any delusions about beating a 5A team. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, at least you got to play against the bigger, stronger, deeper side of high school.

What an opportunity! Bellville has put forth a stellar team year after year. Here we have David and Goliath! any 5A team has a huge advantage in football. Consider this: a 3A team averages 600 total enrollment. Half of that are males. Then assuming it takes about 100 boys to consistently try out for football, that leaves 1 out of 3 boys for freshman, jv and varsity football. A 5a school averages 2000 enrollment. Half of them are males. That means that they have 1000 males, more than three times the number of potential athletes to choose from, one out of 10. I hope Bellville stomps a mud hole in Katy Mortons' field! go Brahmas! :D

Caldwell has scored over 100 points after lose to Bellville,Needville is a 2-0 top 25 team, Brenham did play their starters, and Livinston will win many games this year. All the teams listed are very good teams.

Morton Ranch has 2880 students in High school. Even a lose by Bellville will not be bad, a win would be great over a school that size. I hope this gets set in stone soon, if not we will start another thread.:D

Goodness don't mention Caldwell to Go Blue. It won't win any points. He hates us with a passion and would walk over any one of us if we were on fire. He has a deep seeded hate for us. Not sure why and I try not to take it personal.

Bellville is much improved over last year....not that a lowly person from Caldwell would know...

2880 students? Thats four times the enrollment of Bellville. Yet the Brahmas have so much talent and tradition in their district, I got to say: Look out Katy Morton, you have no idea what you are up against. I'll take Bellvile by 17.

Out of all the Katy schools in district 17-5a Morton Ranch is the Biggest.
Morton Ranch also will have homecoming in this one.

...and you've been put in charge of putting out weekly regional rankings? Rockdale beats three teams (all considered mediocre) and you've placed them into some elite ranking category. In statistics class, that's called "skewed."

Caldwell beats Rockdale's butt nearly every year and you cut us down? With you in charge of rankings, they might as well put a rat in charge of guarding the cheese.

Check out Jerry's latest Region 3 rankings:
3A - 21 West Orange-Stark (2-0) 167.85
3A - 17 Gilmer (3-0) 164.54
3A - 24 Navasota (2-0) 159.64
3A - 18 Carthage (1-1) 159.32
3A - 17 Tyler Chapel Hill (2-0) 147.63
3A - 18 Diboll (1-1) 146.95
3A - 22 Cleveland (2-0) 146.78
3A - 20 Crockett (2-1) 146.39
3A - 18 Jasper (0-2) 145.43
3A - 24 Taylor (2-1) 144.77
3A - 22 Huffman Hargrave (1-1) 142.09
3A - 22 Coldspring-Oakhurst (1-1) 141.99
3A - 24 Caldwell (2-1) 141.04
3A - 24 Rockdale (3-0) 139.79

..... and then there's the Massey ratings:

I knew this was not going to happen. 5a school has nothing to gain playing a 3a. May be good for the brahmas. Will give Nunn and his thigh more time to heal...

No, both of those were 4A teams that have been down for several years (took that from Sealy on-line news). Last year scrimmage was a 3 way between Sealy, Hempstead and Johnston. Sealy also scrimmaged 3A Stafford this year and won the live scrimmage 3-0 by kicking a FG.

It will be strange to see schools' records with eight games played. Navasota will have played nine games after the second round of the playoffs because of a first-round bye. Strange.

Maybe Huey could call Snook. You said they were looking for a game.

BTW, FBB you might be interested to know that there is a new book out in Austin County about some sports history in the county. "Austin County Sports Legends" is available in Bellville at the County Judge's Office and at Bill Johnson Real Estate. Some great stories about Ernie Koy, the '38 Brahma team that only allowed 13 points all year, and the '52 team that featured Saage and Froebel.
There are also a few stories about the 5 Championships Sealy has won, but you don't have to read those.

What wrong with Nunn?

Brahma84
09-17-2008, 03:57 PM
Nunn was hurt early in the Livignston game, but stayed in and played. He didn't practice last week, but has been practicing this week. There were a few other Bulls a bit banged up, but they have already had one week off to rest. They have all been practicing this week, even Medina who has been out since the Caldwell game. They should all be rested and ready for Friday.
