This is an old district rivalry from the old D24. Last year this game was covered by the local media as both teams came into the game undefeated and highly touted in the area. Columbus won the game in 2OT w/ a long FG that hit the crossbar and then rolled over for the win. Columbus returns many starters from last year's team and Needville lost a lot to graduation, but have some young, but talented kids filling those holes. This should be a good matchup.

This was a great game last year. Battle of the birds!!! I'll take the homer pick and say Needville by a FG.

This should not be game of the week for our Region, and Needville will win by more than 3 scores.

You're right. 0-3 Goliad @ 0-3 Luling (included in "any of them") would have been a MUCH better choice and we wouldn't have had ANY remarks about our selection.

YOU'RE RIGHT, that would have been a better selection; however maybe not your best choice of "any of them".

Explanation: I think that if you worked at it you could find a better, however atleast it would be a more competitive game relatively speaking, than this game that will not be all that close at all.

I can be PM for help if you ever need it. :D :D

We will never please everyone with our selections. We did research it. Slim pickings as most teams are on a bye week or are playing teams outside our region and/or classification.

Next year I invite you to volunteer to be Region IV editor. Heck, you can start working on finding a suitable game of the week for next week. You can PM your selection.

b4e....keep in mind that Needville was hit hard by graduation. Wilkerson, Porras, the entire OL.....gone. Needville is very young and lacks experience. They DO have talent, but they are young. This will be a decent game.

Have to go with this game will be cancelled. From my understanding Needville has yet to go to school following the aftermath of IKE. If it is played should be a good one. Both teams are undefeated (I dont care who they have played) and this has become a nice little rivalry over the past four years. Needville has been a recent power and Columbus seems to be turning the corner. Columbus is at home and Needville has been dealing with a big distraction so I'll go with Columbus in a close one.

Needville was hit hard by graduation last year, but so was Columbus. Needville lost all of its big playmakers and 4/5ths of the o-line to graduation. On the other hand Columbus did lose its playmaker from last year in Carter. So this should be a good battle of the unexperienced, but also somewhat talented. Prediction - Columbus by 7 at home

Columbus is better than they were last year. Cardinals win by 14. Needville is slow.

Apparently you have not seen Booobak run for Columbus. He is not as fast as Carter but he never gives up. He hits you as hard the last play as he did the first play. Heart makes up for a lot of speed.
Columbus at home by 10.
A good game for sure.
